You freaks need to get a new hobby. This is getting so old. The white supremicist takeover of DCUM has me ready to go. Sorry Jeff, used to love this site, but ever since you let these psychos take over the FCPS and the political forum, I'm just done.

You must read a different DCUM then I do.

Not sure about the white supremacy but yeah the pandemic and school closures galvanized the right wingers who saw the frustration re: school closures as an opportunity to just go down a crazy rabbit hole of the SB is evil, CRT is taking over, the “libs” ruined FCPS, etc. It’s tiring.

+1 They ruined this forum. I used to come here for helpful information, now it's just the same people complaining about the same stuff. It's old, it's boring, it's not helpful.

Please reconcile that with the fact that the single most hateful person towards the School Board and Dr. Reid at present is Sujatha Hampton, the flaky, crazy education head of the Fairfax NAACP.

You people have turned on each other in full public display and still want to blame it on imaginary “MAGAs.”

I am not MAGA and I frequently criticize the right wing minority who has been screaming at the board and wanting to ban books. But I am appalled at the NAACP and whoever leaked the names. Both were very wrong and will make it hard for any future job searches since candidates won’t trust FCPS to protect their confidentiality. I also disagree with the smear campaign they organized against Reid. Spreading random criticisms from an individual? Cherry-picking test data? Besides I thought the NAACP said test scores were invalid or is that only in TJ admissions? And about 200 kids demonstrated their lack of critical thinking skills by blindly following the NAACP’s lead and protesting a person they know nothing about.

x1 million

MAGA trash has polluted education. Disgusting.

What nonsensical projection. Equity to the exclusion of everything else and the push for a year+ of ineffective virtual. When you guys actually adopt a pro-education platform, let others know. Otherwise, you just continue to claim an issue you abandoned years ago.

She's a woman - or at least appears to identify as one - one may never know for sure. That's all the qualifications needed.

Who’s the bigger Great Falls whiner on this one - Asra Nomani or Sujatha Hampton?

Nothing more pathetic than watching two rich, prominent Langley women like Sujatha Hampton and Jennifer Adeli pitch total hissy fits because FCPS didn’t pick a Black woman as Superintendent when they were more than happy to send their own kids to a high school with few Black kids and no economic diversity.

This is some HBO-miniseries level hypocrisy on display.

I hope the community gives her a fighting chance and the school board doesn't meddle too Much. At least she managed not to get flustered when she had to speak after that mess. I'm pleased that Dr, Brabrand will help her get acclimated and introduced. I way not always agree with him and wish he had stood up to the school board more. Hopefully this helps with the learning curve and learnin gthe schools and the community.

Have people called them out on it?

Both sides on the extremes suck. And Im not happy with the status quo at FCPS or the SB but I stand by what I said. It’s pretty obvious to anyone who has been on this site for a while and some people are eating it up. I wish SB members were not affiliated or endorsed by political parties and just ran on things that are important to them. Those of us who are moderates have no option but to vote for those we believe are the lesser of evils. It blows.

It was down to two candidates, the other woman who was favored by some of the interest groups withdrew from consideration for reasons we can endlessly speculate about, so they went with the other one by default.

There's her gender, and of course you forgot to mention that she was the NATIONAL Superintendent of the year for 2021.

Look, we don't know how she'll work out. But she's literally the ONLY candidate left. There were no others. And she's willing to take the job! I mean, given how awful the school board has been, and how awful the special interest groups are, WE NEED TO TAKE ANYONE WE CAN GET!

Dr. Reid is a live body. She also comes with some cred. So, bring her in and hope for the best. I really hope she'll stay long term and work out. But, realistically, 99% of people wouldn't want the conflict and attacks that we have in FCPS. So, I'm expecting her to leave in 2-3 years.

Give her a chance. We got the SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR! Maybe the school board finally did something right! (Like a blind squirrel eventually finding a nut!)

Actuslly, I think it's the reverse. The other candidate, Dr Logan, realized she wasn't getting the job, so she withdrew to make it look like she wasn't the loser in the competition.

We know that the NAACP wrote their letter trying to stop the board from picking Dr Reid. Dr Logsn must have know that Dr Reid was the chosen candidate. That's why she withdrew....to save face for her Omaha constituents.

To all who blame Dr Brabrand for schools being closed....I will remind you that he and Presidio wanted to keep EVERYONE in school for fall 2020 unless you vould show a medical need to do virtual. It was the school board and teachers (and about half the parents) who DEMANDED that everyone be allowed to do virtual. Brabrand told the Board that it would work for staffing. The Board (and teachers) insisted.

And that's how we ended up with everyone doing virtual...and me pulling my 9th grader out by Thskgving to home school him.

Brabrand wanted to kerp kids in school with masks in fall 2020.

False. They chose her before the other candidate “withdrew.” They mentioned it had been weeks since they extended the offer to her.
