To all who blame Dr Brabrand for schools being closed....I will remind you that he and Presidio wanted to keep EVERYONE in school for fall 2020 unless you vould show a medical need to do virtual. It was the school board and teachers (and about half the parents) who DEMANDED that everyone be allowed to do virtual. Brabrand told the Board that it would work for staffing. The Board (and teachers) insisted. And that's how we ended up with everyone doing virtual...and me pulling my 9th grader out by Thskgving to home school him. Brabrand wanted to kerp kids in school with masks in fall 2020.
That is definitley what he said.
I'm the first PP, and I just wanted to fix my typo.... Brabrand told the Board it WOULD NOT work for staffing (to allow every teacher and student to choose virtual vs in person). But I think we are in agreement. Brabrand was trying to keep schools open in fall 2020.
He might have been "trying" but he gave in. He also gave in to ALL their requests to cancel or delay school. Recall that even virtual school was delayed by weeks that Fall. WHY? Was it a surprise to any of them that school (virtual or not) had to open its doors at the end of August? But they all spent the summer doing who knows what and took away even more days from the students of FCPS for "planning". The entire thing was a joke and Brabrand may have had ok intentions but he was way too nice for his own good and folded to them at every turn.
And he allowed them to have Monday off all year. Good thing learning loss "isn't a thing" according to the woke mob. https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2021/03/10/what-learning-loss-really-means/
