She is a complete player. Plays great D for a middie and can dish the ball. Leadership is her best quality. Oakton parent not her dad.

Kind of like winning the World Series in baseball or Super Bowl in football…Does anyone ever remember those runner up’s ?

OAKTON COUGARS are STATE CHAMPIONSHIP CHAMPIONS !

Keep “COUNTS” of them!!!

Holy crap! Did the POY really have 92 goals? That’s insane.

Yes, very impressive stat and very impressive player. What’s more impressive is another player in the Concorde had more goals and in less games. Some great players in the Concorde

I see Oakton girl on had 15 assists on a state championship team. How many did the other Concorde player have? Was she just shoot or does she have more balanced offensive stats?
In Oakton’s offense, feeds usually came from the low attack position. So, 15 assists from up top makes sense. POY was not the only scorer for Oakton, they had pretty balanced scoring, with #4 and #21 also scoring multiple goals per game.

Led the team in Goals and Assists. Both are great players and both are 1st Team All State.

When considering the number of goals a players scores one should also look at the percentage of goals this player has for her team. #11 scored 33% of Oakton’s goals, which is a little high. If this other player had more goals she then represented an even higher percentage of her teams goals since the other Concorde teams had fewer total goals. She would have to be closer to 40-50% of her team’s goals which is not good balance. Was this out of necessity for the team or because this player just takes a lot of her team’s shots?

Regarding assists, you need finishers to receive credit for an assist. #11 was fed more than feeding because she can finish. Not all players have this knack. #11 probably fed much more than her 15 assists but others did not finish at the same shooting percentage.

Congrats to Oakton on state champs -- lot of individual/team talent top to bottom. 19-2 record against some great competition

Congrats to Battlefield on runner-up. Surprised a lot of non-believers and came up just short as Oakton just a little bit better.

It was out of necessity and best way for offense to have a chance to win and compete against the upper tier teams

Agreed. Amazing player and will have a great college career. With a stronger supporting cast on offense (for example Oakton's) this team could be in the State Championship next year.

Thanks for that killer analysis.

Stats are out of balance. Oakton had multiple all-state players. Finishing would not be a problem. College is littered with one-trick ponies who dodge from the top. All-world scorers in high school, then meet defenders in college who are taller and faster. POY has great skills, but size and speed of college players will initially challenge her traditional style of play. No doubt she has the physical ability to adapt.

#11 from oakton is very good, but all those goals are scored on below average teams, for example- how many goals did she score vs chantilly..
Again very good player but the stats are not comparable. She won’t last long at JMU

This is all old news, let’s just move on to a new thread like that 2024 one

Seriously, you don’t know what you’re talking about. First, Oakton’s #11 never got much more than a half of playing time against weaker teams, so most of her scoring came against competitive teams. Probably close to a third of her goals came against Madison and Centerville.

The “won’t last long at JMU” comment is baseless and just mean. As I understand it, and according to someone who would know, she has been a standout every time she has played with her fellow JMU commits. Betting against her is a fool’s errand.
