Battlefield beat Yorktown 21-9. I think it would take more than a few bball players, 7v7 format or field size to turn that score around.

It completely depends on who Yorktown was missing. I really wouldn’t base anything on the winter league results.

1) Oakton
2) Yorktown
3) Langley
4) Woodson
5) Robinson
6) Battlefield
7) Centreville
8) Madison
9) Champe
10) W. Springfield

You know what, I wouldn’t throw down in the St James parking lot with you over that. 😀 I might argue with battlefield being that high but, I think you’ might have nailed it. 👍

Lurker here: with this low level buzz about centreville I called a dad out there to see what was going on. He down plays a lot but let a bit of light on them. They have the coaches in place that have turned a butter knife into a scalpel. He also said that the centreville St James team is not their “A team” but their B+ team.

He also said to watch Westfield.

I think Yorktown was just tired from all those goals they scored on them in the championship game last year (I think they just stopped scoring a couple of weeks ago...). They will be well rested by the Spring, don't worry.

Keep dreaming battlefield parents. You lost a lot more talent than you gained.

Winter league translates nothing to a full field game. More focus spent on stopping Yorktown from scoring every 30 seconds.

I think this list is pretty solid. Based on the play I saw last spring and what I'm guessing is the returning talent, I might bump C-ville up a notch or two. I think they would have easily handled Battlefield last year. I might bump Yorktown down due to some key injuries and a couple not playing this spring due to other sport commitments. As for the St. James winter games, they are meaningless and not at all indicative of any team's true talent and depth. You are a fool if you think Battlefield beating Yorktown 21-9 has any bearing on a potential spring match-up. From what I gather Yorktown only had 2 or 3 subs and borrowed 3 players from the JV team including an 8th grade younger sibling of one of the JV players so they could field a team and play the game.

Someone posted that Centrevile did beat Battlefield last year.

When they get good? Someone posted about them getting coaches that turned them around. Crazy!

Yea yea the ole of my sister had nuts she’d be my brother excuse. It was a STJ Winter game leave it at that. Luckily they have a early season matchup to evaluate.

I wouldn’t rank Langley that high up at all. They lost way too many studs last year and don’t have that much coming back. Don’t get me wrong, they will be decent but i prefect about a .500 year. Their head coach LB still doesn’t know her own pliers and can’t actually coach in games. If yorktown is missing key players to other sports this year, I would give the edge to oakton. But after this year, oakton drops to virtually
nothing.
I would say it’s going to be a shootout in the district with oakton, Langley, cville and yorktown. Robo and Woodson will also make a run.
Should be a fun and exciting year, if everyone stays healthy.

Outside of players missing, Winter league games are missing a huge factor that people forget...the Draw. You cannot compare 7 v 7 with no draw to 12 v 12 with a draw. Apples to oranges. Teams with a couple of dynamic scorers can dominate a game in indoor, and that does not translate the same to full field out door, especially if the team never wins the draw to gain possession.

Yorktown will be putting in their subs early. They dominate the early season match up

I actually think this game will be a close one as is it is out in the stix at Battlefield. Kudos to Yorktown for going there to play. Lord knows no one want to commute out there on a weeknight from North Arlington. I think Yorktown is better, but the Bobcats will have that advantage in the game.

Yorktown lost to a team of freshman today, 6-32. You know what that tells the rest of us - Yorktown has no defense this year.

For the not so smart folks in the back, it's winter league. Didn't this team also beat Battlefield?
