I’d say this School Board has already done plenty to tear apart the community. Know people who pulled their kids out of FCPS and others leaving the county entirely because they have zero confidence in this School Board and superintendent.

Interesting. I need to see actual data about people moving out. Makes perfect sense to do so, I’m just curious about actual numbers.

I don’t get this. Cohen’s district is not near there.

It’s almost as if this whole thing isn’t exactly on the level!

It's almost as if the pro school board folks don't actually live in Fairfax County or have kids in fcps.

+1!

Some of us are caught in between. Not necessary super happy with this SB but not a fan of some of the Open FCPS rhetoric.

I’d say the rhetoric is much less important than what’s coming out of the school board.

Anonymous wrote:^^^ #openfcps has a new parents group forming, as a non political grass roots parents group focused on the things you mentioned. They are developing a candidate questionnaire for future elections.

The peadership is split 50/50 D/R. They are hoping to primarily focus on issues that are student centered, education centered, and which most parents from most political perspectives agree upon.

That group seems to be very skilled with bringing in sunshine through foia requests. They also see to be really in tune to special ed issues.

I hope they are able to build and grow so there is a local parents group to be a voice for students and to get a seat at the table.

Anything associated with openfcps is tainted as a MAGA Group, rightly or wronglfy.

Keep trying.

This is a flat out lie.

Is it gaslighting?

I would also like to see where they are moving to. LCPS - PWCS - APS? Don't think so. Maybe MD?

Homeschool. Private. Parochial. Other states if their jobs are flexible. Local privates are opening new classes and expanding like crazy.

The ones who don’t feel safe are doing Virtual Virginia, K-12, or non-online homeschool.

Homeschool not an option. Don't want to drive my kids crazy. They had enough of this year. Need to socialize and have friends.
Private also not an option because can't afford them.
I was thinking of MD but don't know the situation there regarding CRT and these things. Maybe Hogan does a better job?

NP and I know a ton of people who moved to Loudoun County from Fairfax and APS this year. As well as parts of western Prince William and even further south into Stafford. I don’t know anyone who has moved to MD from VA. The LCPS SB recalls are moving along better than the FCPS recalls and they stand a much better chance of having an uninterrupted school year next year.

Fairfax Democrats posted in support of Tholen on Twitter today and got all of 5 “likes.” On the other hand, the recall petition is near or above 3000 signatures. Ouch.
it only took six months

How many more do they need?
3000 isn’t a lot…. But whatever makes you happy.

According to this, they need to get to 3,600 by July 15 for Tholen.

I heard that Tholen's petition is done and Cohen is almost there. I guess we will find out soon if that is correct.

What about Omeish? I still haven’t been able to sign her petition and I would very much like to.
Anonymous
Why are you focused on these two?

Karl is the worst of the bunch. He doesn’t care about kids at all.
I don’t think you should be allowed on the SB if you don’t have kids in FCPS.
