I have 4 friends in the Open FCPS group along with myself. Only one is a Republican. The rest of us are all moderates or democrats who have been really hurt by the school closings.

I don’t know of a concerted effort by Democrats but I have watched the statements and disrespectful tactics of open fcps and I made that connection myself. Those people are bent on tearing apart our community.

I really don’t care. We can’t go down the road of making school basically optional or running two school systems for people who don’t “feel safe.” It’s an inconvenient truth that a lot of people who are in the “doesn’t feel safe” camp are 1) making tons of other risky decisions for things that aren’t nearly as important as getting a good education and 2) aren’t necessarily enforcing online school attendance for their kids and likely wouldn’t have been accepted to the existing online charter schools.

I’d say this School Board has already done plenty to tear apart the community. Know people who pulled their kids out of FCPS and others leaving the county entirely because they have zero confidence in this School Board and superintendent.

Some of us are caught in between. Not necessary super happy with this SB but not a fan of some of the Open FCPS rhetoric.

I can see that.

But if you feel that way, sign the petition (in particular Omeish since any ffx vter can sign that one).

Once the petition meets the recall threshold, get together with your centrist and left of center friends and put up a true moderate. Put up a Meghan or a Chap. Trust me, the #openfcps will be thrilled to have moderates replace the extreme left wing members.

If the centrists and traditional liberals don't help stand up to the extreme left wing crazies taking over your party, we are all doomed. Stand up for your kids and our public school system by signing the recall, then put up a fiscally aware, middle of the road moderate who understands schools. Stand up for a school board that wants to focus on education and not on politics.

Just because you sign the petition, does not mean that you are committing to voting for the nexf Elizabeth Schultz.

If you want a moderate school board and hate the incompetence of this radical school board, sign the petition and go find a moderate to run.

DP. People who want their kids to remain virtual can still do so - with doctor documentation. What they can’t do is hold the rest of the county hostage.

We aren’t in the “height of the pandemic!” They had the option for all of last year, no questions asked. Now it’s time to move on so we can deal with the years of learning loss that the closures caused.
