How did they get Wendy Malick to look 40 years younger in that flashback? I need the name of the makeup, the filter everything! |
If her thyroid was so messed up that it caused her to weigh as much as she does she would have a lot of other medical issues as well so of which could make it hard to function. Most obesity is caused by one thing... over eating. has anyone else noticed how terrible her skin is too? Whenever they do a close up shot of her face I am shocked her skin looks so bad, even with all the makeup. |
yes, she's eating a ton of calories |
I normally love Randall but his whole holier than thou is getting old. Pay attention to your family and wife and put your ego down for 1 second |
+1 That was astounding! |

Taking in that many calories is not good for your skin, and it shows. Few morbidly obese people have great skin. I'm puzzled as to why she doesn't want the lap band surgery. I would be there in a heart beat if I got to that weight and couldn't lose (for whatever reason). The aesthetics would bother me but the array of looming health issues would bother me even more. |
I'm not an expert in weight loss surgery, but my understanding is that there are a ton of risks and the efficacy is questionable. I understand why she'd want to try to lose the weight naturally. More broadly: Yes, I normally love Randall too, but his savior complex is getting old. He needs to figure out a different way of processing his past other than imposing himself on people who aren't interested in his help. I did like how they didn't portray Beth as just able to waltz into a new job. The actual storyline was much more realistic, IMO. It's sad that she doesn't feel comfortable telling Randall what really happened, though. |
do you think they used a younger double and just put her voice into the scene? It was pretty short, and fuzzy filming. |
Agree, but I think that what they are trying to say is that Randall hasn't reconciled with his past and can't figure out how to stay true to his family, honor both of his fathers and make his mark on the world, which he was never able to do in his corporate job. He's always been the "stable" one, but that was just a facade. It also further illustrates that he never feels like he truly belongs anywhere. For example, he doesn't feel accepted in a "white" nor "black" world, which was a huge theme in last week's episode. He's just as lost as Kate and Kevin and we are now starting to see that more with Randall. |
racism and discrimination runs DEEP. its maddening that people don't get this. its also very much so taught. |
Lapbands have not proven to be really effective long-term with people of Chrissy's size. There are other surgical procedures that are much effective, but they are also more invasive and carry more risk. |
my god yes! she looked damn near 60 15 years ago on Frasier. |
Every single thing about Randall running for office made me crazy. How did he decide to run for office and have signs made overnight? Was the disclaimer on the signs? Can he legally run for office there? Did he not think to get a manager or a fundraiser? How did he have time to file? Was it coincidentally time to run for office the next day of this brilliant idea? Did he not meet with a single person who he might represent? Also, Philly politics is its own world - there are long-standing traditions that you can't just hop on in and expect support. I hope they stop with this stupid plot line.
clearly, I do work with candidates and campaigns ![]() |
Excellent assessment. Initially Randall was super dad, super husband, super worker, he built their house, he found his dad, etc. Now we are seeing he is just as flawed as his siblings with his blind hero complex. |
