Nope not victim blaming. The man wasn't panicking, he was quite calm because he's an older man (grandfather) and immigrant who has probably seen a lot of things in his lifetime. He had more control over himself than the teenagers. He was calmy saying, "this is my car" while the teens were screaming for him to get out. Based on my personal experience with other traumatic incidents I tend to freeze so I would not have been calmly speaking like him. I would have just moved away from the car after a short delay. |
They're juveniles and their intent was to steal a car, not kill a man. It's vehicular manslaughter and they are already cooperating for a lighter sentence. They should be out before 30. |
A bad day or week because of the pandemic?! That’s a justification for car jacking and murder. God, I hope you’re not on the jury. |
It was felony murder. |
It's sarcasm. Guess you missed this... https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/03/17/jay-baker-bad-day/ |
I'm sure they are. |
There's no way they're pleading guilty to felony murder. Any decent lawyer will get it down. |
This. |
with it all on video tape? hopefully the prosecutor will have more of a spine. they need to go away for the max, whatever that is for juveniles. |

He probably didn’t think a 13 year old was going to steal the car.
I was in the middle of a school shooting in the 90s. You’d be very surprised how people act in these scenarios. The people who you don’t think will panic do and vice versa. It’s easy to pass judgment here on Mr. Anwar because he didn’t follow the instructions of a 13 and 15 year old but you weren’t there and have no idea what you would do. I surprised myself when I saw the shooting and was trapped by my sense of calm (and I am a high strung person). The guy next to me freaked and wet himself. I wish he had moved away from the car, but he didn’t. He beats zero responsibility for what happened. |
Agreed. I’m so angry for this man and his family. These two girls can rot in jail. I hope they don’t see the light of day. I don’t care what their circumstances. No circumstance justifies murdering an innocent man and breaking a family for life |
Neither is getting the max. They are young teenagers who are capable of remediation if they take it seriously. |
|
I doubt this qualifies as a hate crime HOWEVER I wouldn’t be surprised if the victim was targeted and picked partially because of his race/age. I don’t think him being an older Pakistani man is irrelevant.
May he Rest In Peace. |
Sweet teens with a taser trying to carjack an elderly gentleman. Nice. |
