That is right. This is a property crime. Your insurance will take care of it. Heck, he might have been able to get Uber to buy him a new car! |
You could probably more easily afford to replace (either directly or through better insurance) to replace your stolen car than could the victim here. I'm not saying his car was worth his life, but when he is deciding how to respond he has to look at the consequences of handing over his car (and the small chance it goes this bad if he doesn't) differently than most of DCUM does. |
| Connecting the dots to no vaccine sites in Ward 3, it is a KNOWN THING that certain neighborhoods are no-go zones for taxis, ride share, delivery. Also, stores and super markets dont want to open. Why? Because loss orevention and danger. And how the heck are you supposes to score a return ride in a taxi from your vaccine afternthis? But "equitists" like Charles Allen demand travel and services in these locations without offering security solutions. I feel so sorry for this guy, just trying to answer a call/do the right thing. |
Poppycock. “ If violent crime is to be curbed, it is only the intended victim who can do it. The felon does not fear the police, and he fears neither judge nor jury. Therefore what he must be taught to fear is his victim.” |
This occurred right near Nats Stadium, in the middle of the day. This is hardly a no go zone. |
How do you know the man didn't try to do this? The two children who murdered him were not old enough to drive and almost certainly did not know how to properly operate a car. Stop blaming the victim. |
Exactly! They also tapered him. You have no idea how you’d react in a fight or flight situation like that-particularly one where the threats were 7th snd 9th grade girls! It was probably both scary and incredibly confusing. Place the blame where it belongs-these kids and the grown ups who failed them. |
Karl Racine and Charles Allen should maybe at some point be asked the tough questions about the rampant juvenile crime in the District. |
They should focus on the rampant inequality that exists in the city/country and the rampant lack of opportunities for people in certain communities. |
They are focused on that, but at the same time the juveniles in the District think they are untouchable and that nothing will happen to them because there are no real consequences for their actions. Perhaps treating all juvenile crime like it’s shoplifting from the corner store isn’t the way to go. |
DP. Can't they do both? These kinds of responses to discussions about increased violent crime are getting really old. Lack of opportunity and inequality are issues that should be addressed, certainly, but they are not excuses for criminal behavior. There are plenty of people who face inequality and lack of opportunity but don't kill people while trying to steal their cars. |

Just imagine, for one second, what the media- local and national- would do had this been two white boys killing a Pakistani man.
Then ask yourself if it's actually unbiased. |
I really don't know why you folks always engage is this sort of self-pity. The media is covering this pretty heavily. Here is the Post's coverage: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/teen-girls-carjacking-charges/2021/03/24/50c29dee-8c96-11eb-a6bd-0eb91c03305a_story.html |
Yes. The children will be released before too long anyway. Not worth it to give up your life to those who have no respect for life. |

Bruce Leshan is live-tweeting the hearing that is going on. Check his Twitter feed. You self-pittiers should ask how often local reporters live-tweet such hearings.
