Ok thanks for letting us know you think you’re using the term correctly ![]() |
Why would she have abdominal surgery for breast cancer? Or they’re using the term “abdominal” very loosely? |
I think you make a good point that supports my theory that it’s ovarian or uterine cancer |

What if the Spanish journalist was right? Curiously, no lawsuit from KP came about for that wild report about KM and no retraction from the Spanish journalist was ever made |
It really is person dependent. But yes, patients getting adjuvant chemotherapy (chemo you get after surgery to mop up any remaining cancer cells) can suffer from long term side effects. It just depends on the person, how their body tolerated the chemo, how healthy they were before chemo, etc. |
I posted that, and it was to show there is “preventative chemo,” since several posters said there is no such thing. Breast cancer happens to be the one I know about personally. Likely there is preventative chemo for other cancers as well for similar and/or other reasons. |
This thread keeps getting worse and worse. I am stunned that some of you seem to know so little about chemotherapy. Count yourselves lucky. Chemotherapy side effects would be the same whether it’s being done as a necessity or “preventatively.” What might be different is the number of infusions and (hopefully obviously) the more you have, the worse the side effects cummulate. But maybe she is doing a full course, I don’t know and neither do you. But say she had surgery on Day Zero, from the biopsy of the tumor discovered chemo was recommended and started it 6 weeks after Day Zero, then had 6 courses of chemo spaced 3 weeks apart. We’re now at 6 months. The side effects don’t disappear immediately, and obviously one’s hair and lashes etc take even longer. Maybe she also needs to have radiation, which further fatigues you esp if you’ve done chemo. People on dcum have also speculated for years she might have a GI issue - well that’s likely to flare during chemo since chemo strongest hits rapidly dividing cells like in GI tract. And last point, ancedotally, my oncologist told me she sees her young patients suffer the worst from side effects, she thinks because they are so used to be go go go (eg, a young mom like Kate) vs older patients may already be at a point of taking it slower. This is all speculation. But it’s reasonable and possible. I’m always going to err on the side of letting a patient recover in whatever time frame works for them, and I can’t believe how many of you are ready to attack. It’s just sad. What if this was your sister or friend? |
