Because nothing about the murders add up. They don't appear to be a reactionary murder (which initially made the most sense); no clear motive, no initial clear link to other premeditated murders... everything about it calls for the best analysis there is.

The suspect they arrested lived in PA at the time of murders in this article, just moved to UW-Pullman this summer. The police have said previously they don’t think the crimes are connected.
