How tall are your kids - how tall are you?

For my first two boys they are right on track to meet the "add 2.5 inches to the average parent height." They have been 60th percentile height their entire lives, give or take a couple percent. For my third boy he is the same age as yours, and 28 inches, which is 96th percentile. This is crazy because my wife and I are fairly short (even 60th percentile was quite tall given our heights).

So you did not answer OP's question? No wonder the schools system is a failure. If you didn't want to post your heights, why did you answer?

I do what I want to do. Why did u post?

I’m 5’3” and DH is 6’1”. We have one biological child who is 5’ and is 10. Kid is projected to be DH’s height. We have a child who was adopted and at 12, is 4’10” and based on her birth parents’ height, is supposed to be 5’2” at the max.

I am pretty sure that unless he starved, his height was written in his DNA. There are plenty of kids in Africa that grow with little to no food who end up extremely tall. If your DH grew up in America in the last 50 years, he had enough food to reach his full heigh potential.
Now, if he (like my DH) has scoliosis, then he could have been a bit taller. DH is 6’2” with really bad scoliosis. Had his back been straight he would have been at least 6’3”

Agree.

I'm 5'8" and have been this height since 6th grade or so. Daughter is predicted to be 5'6" which seem she about right since she isn't 5'1" going into sixth. (Dad is maybe 5'9")

There are calculators out there that will do this calculation for you.
I’m 5’8” and my husband is 5’11”. The calculator said both of my girls will be 5’6” or 5’7” which seems about right.

My 12.5 year old is 5’3” (just had a huge growth spurt) and 10 year old is...not positive probably 4’8”

I am the first female in the family amongst all the moms, grandmas, aunts, sisters and cousins to reach 5'0". yaayy! I'm the tallest! (They are all 4.10 and 4.11)

My 2 girls are adopted from China so may also be small. Who knows and who cares? We are all smart and healthy.

But still, I'm 5 feet and gloat it over my family, LOL.

I'm 5'3 and DH is 6'. Our daughter was in the 93rd-96th percentile for height for the first 12 months, but at her 15 month appointment she dropped to the 87th percentile. Our doctor said that growth patterns aren't really established over the first 2 years of life, so height at her age isn't particularly meaningful. That said, my mother said that my sister and I were in the 40th percentile when we were little, so I'm wondering if maybe height as a baby is more predictive than her doctor said...Since I think we're both around the 40th percentile now.

I've been very surprised by my daughter's growth over the past 15 months. She was 20 inches and 7 pounds at birth, which is very average...But her growth was so rapid that I was surprised when she dropped into the 80th percentile (albeit the high 80s) at 15 months and it makes me wonder if her growth will start to slow some. Did anyone else's child start out in the 90th percentile for the first 12 months and then sort of drop down the chart a bit? Also, not sure if it's meaningful but her head has always been in the 30th percentile (doctor assured us that this is normal). I just find the discrepancy between her head and height percentiles so interesting. Did anyone else find that was the case for their children? Was that meaningful? Sorry for the tangent!

My husband and I are both 5' 8" (well, I'm just under at 5' 7.75").

Our daughters (ages 23 and 21) are 5'5" and 5'4".

Our son (age 17) is 6'1".

We have no idea how he ended up that tall. Neither one of us comes from especially tall families - on both sides, the tallest male I can think of is 5'10".

He was always tall - he was 23.5" at birth!

I'm 5'6" and DH is 6'2". DD started around the 75-80th percentile for height, then between 2-2.5 years jumped up to over the 95th percentile. She's almost 5 and still around the 97-98th height percentile, so I wouldn't be surprised if she stays there. The adult height calculators put her at 5'7" to 5'9" which would be about right.

Interestingly her weight has always been around the 95th percentile, so she was a fat baby that caught up and is now evenly proportioned.

It seems most people on here have kids who "overperformed" in terms of height compared to their parents. We are opposite. Although my DS is not yet an adult, he has always been on the shorter side of the growth curve. He should be 6' based on the prediction calculator but is only 5'6" - might end up 5'9" but already hit puberty. Not sure why.
