How tall are your kids - how tall are you?

Do you have "short genes" in your families? I have friends that seem like outliers compared to their families, but less so when you look at their grandparents or other extended relatives.

The shortest boy in school K-12 did not have his growth spurt til college. He ended up 5'9" and utterly freaking gorgeous. I dated him after reconnecting at the 20th HS reunion. The girls all stared at him all night and kept saying "He grew!"

I'm 5'8". DH is 6"1.5".

Our girls are the tallest in the peer group.

Using your calculation, both of them will about 5:10". This seems reasonable: there are quite a few tall relatives (5"9" aunts and my brother is 6:3") on my side and quite a few tall men on DH's side (his father and nephew are 6"3")

It depends on vitamin D exposure, month of conception, and nutrition, too, as well as protein. Use the equation that takes into account the grandparents height for a more accurate calculator.

For the PP who said he got enough calories/its written into his DNA... Sure, your max height under optimal conditions is written in but you may not reach it even if you get enough calories because you're lacking micronutrients and protein.

I’m 5’5”, dh is 5’11”, dd is 5’6”. Oldest ds is 6’0. Youngest ds (17) is 6’2”. Both dh and I have family of origin members that are tall.

I read somewhere that you can estimate how tall your kids final height by taking girls height at 2 and doubling it and boys height at 2.5 and doubling it. That would put my girls at 5’8” tall full grown. Not sure about my son but at 4 months old he was already 28”. DH is 5’9ish and I am 5’7. I am wondering if it’s possible DS will be over 6’ tall. He is right now huge. 5 months old, 21lbs and just about 30” and in 12-18 month clothes. We do have tall genes in our fall. My brother is over 6’ tall and some of DH’s uncles are well over 6’. Just curious.

Those are my in-laws' heights and my husband is 6'2". His sister is 5'4".

Do your research before you decide to be rude. Month of conception and vitamin D exposure during pg are correlated. There is a reason babies born in late summer and early fall tend to be bigger and taller-good D reserves going into pregnancy and then a summer of vitamin D exposure in the final trimester.

My DH is 6'3, I am 5'4.

I'm super short 5'; DH is tall 6'3, kids are above average height - 5'11" (still growing) DS and 5.6" DD.

Generally, tall parents have tall kids, and short parents have short kids, but if you have a mix of short and tall parents, it's harder to tell.

I have a friend who is 5'2", her husband is 6", and their daughters are about 5'5" to 5'6".

DH's parents - mother is tall, father is average height - one of DH's sister is 6', the other is 5'5".

DH is 5’11” and I’m 5’5”.

DD16 is 5’7” (done growing I assume)
DS15 is 5’9” (probably will grow a bit more- late bloomer)
DS13 is 5’6” (too early to guess final height)
