Where are all these tall kids? My daughter is in a large basketball camp ages 10-16. They took a picture of them and the wall behind them had a black line. My 12 year old daughter is 5’4”, not tall, and she was a little past the black line. There were only about three other girls who were past that line.
There were a few tall boys but most were just average. In school, in activities the really tall kids are a small minority. What do your tall kids do all summer? |
My super tall DS is not sporty at all (much to tall bball loving dad’s chagrin). He’s at robotics camp, karate, playing chess, swimming… |
Your daughter is almost done growing before many of the boys have even started their growing. So of course, at 12, many of the girls will be taller than their male counterparts. My son just turned 14 and is 5'11". He's tall but he's not really tall. His really tall friends are in basketball camps too- ones that wouldn't really be appropriate for him as a rec player. |
The tall sports kids are probably busy with more competitive teams and programs rather than at camp…. I’ve seen a lot of taller/earlier to mature kids end up on a different track (ultra competitive teams/training programs made up of all tall/big kids) quite early. So, you don’t see many on lower level teams or regular camps past a certain age. My 3 teens have all been later bloomers so this did not apply to them, but was the case for many friends. Often things change after they all go through puberty and things rearrange a bit. |

I am 6'0", my husband is 6'5". We love being a tall family!
DS 13 - 6'0 should be between 6'7" - 6'9" DS 11 - 5'4" should be between 6'5" - 6'7" DS 8 - 5'1" should be between 6'9" - 6'10" |
Do you all need special beds?
|
Do your tiny kids still sleep in a toddler bed? |
| He is 6’2 and I am 5’5. Our son is six feet at 14. Daughter is 17 and five feet exactly. |
C’mon your kids are unusually tall. |
What the actual f cvk |
Are any of you coordinated or just tall and goofy |
Keep in mind she’s saying “should be” - the kids aren’t actually that tall yet. |

Me = 5’2
Husband = 6’1 DD1 = 5’3 DS = 6’1 DD2 = 5’2 I was hoping my daughters would be taller but I’m glad my son got his Dad’s height |
Usually it is the opposite - tall dad/short mom = tall daughters/short sons. |
