If the presence of guns causes shootings, then why aren’t there more shootings in the place the guns are being obtained? Why aren’t there more shootings in PA or VA, where you can buy a gun in literally thousands of stores, as opposed to DC, where you can’t buy one at all?

If guns caused shootings, then you’d have the most shootings at the source of the guns, where the concentration is highest.

It's so crazy that the world is multidimensional!

Based on the current crime/murder rate I'd say life with the MPD isn't that great anyways.

True but it can and will get worse. Imagine that.

With appropriate social programs it can and will get better. Imagine that.

What’s it like to live in LaLa Land? Lemme guess...there, men don’t rape women either because they were taught not to, right?

You think that police stop women from being raped? Do you think they do a good job of investigating?

See copious examples of uninvestigated backlogs of rape kits and hostile investigators. I think we can do better with a dedicated group of investigators who are trained to handle cases like that rather than knock heads with goons.

I never said police stop rapes. My point was you live in a fantasy world. One where social programs will stop crime. One where women can walk around half naked because men shouldn’t rape them.

Personally I live in the real world. Men can and do rape, and social programs aren’t doing diddly squat to stop crime.

I live in the real world.

Social programs are proven to reduce crime. You are the one living in a fantasy world. I hope you don't shoot your own daughter by accident.

I have a beach front condo in Idaho I would like to sell. Good lord. Where do people like you come from?

You should just stay in Idaho. You wouldn't do well around here.

Most rape calls are wage and hour disputes. Prostitutes call 911 and say they were raped when the john does not want to pay their fee. The cops show up like they do
for all rape calls. Cop then has to negotiate with the prostitute and john and tell the john to pay his bill. Usually when the cops show up the john pays his bill to the prostitute.

Snark isn’t an answer.

Answer the question please: if guns cause shootings, as you suggest, then why aren’t there more shootings in the places with the highest concentrations of gun sellers/owners?

It’s a simple question.

Pretend we’re all children here, and explain it to us in simple terms. You can do that, can’t you?

Answer. The. Question.

Poverty + guns

Is a very different outcome than

Affluence + guns

That's one new dimension for you. Now throw in there structural racism, a "war on drugs", underfunded schools, lack of opportunity, stolen wealth. How much farther do you need me to go?

And the next time one of those cops sees a guy they’ve arrested before for vehicle burglaries casing your car with a window-breaker hammer sticking out of his pocket, he’ll just ignore it, and come back later to make a report and give you a CCN for your insurance company.

And you get to eat your insurance deductible and pay higher rates, all so some career petty criminal can break the window on your car just to find out there was nothing inside to steal.

Enjoy your defunded police and all the wonderful quality of life crimes that come with it. You’ve earned it.

That's a great description of what already happens now. MPD DGAF

Let's give these kids real opportunities and they'll use their hammers for building.

Lol, give them hammers?!?! Ok, here’s an opportunity for you to prove your point. Why don’t you visit Brentwood or Columbia Heights any of the marginalized communities and bring some hammers. Show whoever is interested your way of life. Maybe you can communicate a clear and concise plan for how the hammers will lead them to salvation.

Then let everyone know what a huge success your plan is. We’ll be here waiting. Come on, put your money where your mouth is and put the time, effort and money that will make the difference. Since the police dgaf, show us how you do

Wow, are you really unaware of mentoring programs? Have you seriously met zero people who grew up from rough backgrounds that turned out pretty decent? I've never quite a few.

I can and do volunteer my time and money. We could do a lot more a for these kids if we acted as a city. It's like asking for people to voluntarily use less plastic instead of having comprehensive legislation to solve a major problem.

I am very aware of mentoring programs that help at risk youth. You are sanctimonious when you call out an entire group of people.

With your hammers, please tell these MPD volunteers and police officers how they dgaf. I’m sure it’ll make you feel good since police morale is already in the tank.

Because people in Pennsylvania don’t have appropriate gun safety courses? Huh? Btw, in between philly and Pittsburgh there’s a huge swath of fun country. And those folks don’t have just one or two. When people are into guns they end up with dozens.

Correct. People’s gripe should be with the courts, not with MPD.

What would a court do? Put more black peoples in jail? That is certainly not the answer.

There’s plenty of guns in Appalachia. But very little in the way of affluence. Or gun violence. FAIL.

So you’re willing to acknowledge that there’s myriad of complex reasons for this violence....and then advocate a simplistic, one dimensional solution of banning guns as the fix.

And that will address all those other issues, how?

Oh, it won’t. It it WILL accomplish banning guns, which is the only thing you really care about. Doesn’t matter what the problem is, it’s always the same solution.

You’re a one-trick pony.

Appalachia is a hell of a lot less dense though, population wise.
