Bravo, DC.

Police here don't stop shootings/ crime in any way. They respond to calls. Ask any current MPD officer. More opportunities and resources in communities do.

This is why drug houses don't get shut down.

Because when MPD does roll around they don't want to deal with the paperwork. They're rather go around stopping and frisking people who "look like criminals"

Based on the current crime/murder rate I'd say life with the MPD isn't that great anyways.

True but it can and will get worse. Imagine that.

With appropriate social programs it can and will get better. Imagine that.

LOL. Your naiveness is off the chart. You must be white.

Because it works in civilized countries.

Let me guess, you think that Black people can't be civilized? Blah blah blah we're not like Finland because we're diverse

And you think you're wise.

Well most of the crime in DC is committed by young men covered under the youth rehabilitation act. Obviously you don't need lots of police to arrest someone 20 times just to release them back to the streets.

That means that the average MWPD cop will lose out on almost $1500 per year of overtime fraud. Pity the poor hero-warriors.

And the next time one of those cops sees a guy they’ve arrested before for vehicle burglaries casing your car with a window-breaker hammer sticking out of his pocket, he’ll just ignore it, and come back later to make a report and give you a CCN for your insurance company.

And you get to eat your insurance deductible and pay higher rates, all so some career petty criminal can break the window on your car just to find out there was nothing inside to steal.

Enjoy your defunded police and all the wonderful quality of life crimes that come with it. You’ve earned it.

That's a great description of what already happens now. MPD DGAF

Let's give these kids real opportunities and they'll use their hammers for building.

What’s it like to live in LaLa Land? Lemme guess...there, men don’t rape women either because they were taught not to, right?

You think that police stop women from being raped? Do you think they do a good job of investigating?

See copious examples of uninvestigated backlogs of rape kits and hostile investigators. I think we can do better with a dedicated group of investigators who are trained to handle cases like that rather than knock heads with goons.

Police in DC can catch criminals all day long, but we all know they will be back on the street in no time due to lack of any real convictions (no, I’m not talking about drugs, I’m talking about violent crimes). So defunding the police will not do much.

They should put that money towards sensible gun safety measures in VA and PA which is why our streets are running with blood to begin with.

I never said police stop rapes. My point was you live in a fantasy world. One where social programs will stop crime. One where women can walk around half naked because men shouldn’t rape them.

Personally I live in the real world. Men can and do rape, and social programs aren’t doing diddly squat to stop crime.

I live in the real world.

Social programs are proven to reduce crime. You are the one living in a fantasy world. I hope you don't shoot your own daughter by accident.

Correct. People’s gripe should be with the courts, not with MPD.

If the presence of guns causes shootings, then why aren’t there more shootings in the place the guns are being obtained? Why aren’t there more shootings in PA or VA, where you can buy a gun in literally thousands of stores, as opposed to DC, where you can’t buy one at all?

If guns caused shootings, then you’d have the most shootings at the source of the guns, where the concentration is highest.
