I hope this does not give another black eye to Landon.

The party shown was during "Beach Week". Do the math.

What math? A senior/grad who is 19.5yo ("approaching 20") in June right after graduation would be turning 19.0 in December or earlier. So how many seniors do you know that are already 19, or turning 19 within the next month? Name the schools.

Kids start K when 5 and turn 6 during K. Those kids are more than likely 18 June of their senior year, but if they were held back a year at some point they would be 19.

So most are 6+12=18 but about 20% and at Landon probably higher than 20% are 6+12+1 = 19 in June turning 20 in the coming months.

1. This does not hurt Landon's reputation, but it reinforces Landon's reputation for bad behavior.

2. The Brown campaign is behind all of these things, but Gansler is clearly an idiot. The bullying of State Troopers, then the disregard of speeding tickets and now enabling underage drinking. What a fool.

3. For those who say, "It's better than letting them get busted for buying alcohol on their own", what kind of parent are you? Forget the legal liability. No parent should be involved with the enabling of underage drinking.

4. Why is Gansler taking a photo of his son or a "selfie" at a teenage party? Weird.

5. Anybody who is lauding Gansler or any other Landon parent for renting a party house and looking the other way at beer consumption should be ashamed of themselves. What if someone was hurt as a result of that party?

6. Give me a break - someone from Landon threw some cash at the realtor to cover the damages. Nobody "broke into the house and trashed it after they left". If the bar was damaged from high heels, and the floors were messed up, that was obviously from Landon kids trashing the house at the party.

This is why we never considered Landon. There is something in the culture there that either breeds bad behavior or attracts kids/families who exhibit bad behavior.

And regarding whether or not Landon has any Seniors who are 19, that is a joke. Many of those boys repeated a year along the way, so many of those kids turn 19 during the course of the school year (or before).

The Landon class of 2013 is the owner of the Fantasy Sex League. Connection much???

Direct connection.

I agree. They set good, enforceable limits and enforced them.

I'm not a MD resident so I haven't paid too much attention to the race for AG so I don't have an opinion of Gansler, but that photo in the link is so obviously a TERRIBLE photoshop attempt. Does the Baltimore Sun really think this is responsible journalism?!

As for Landon boys having a party after graduation, during beach week...really - you guys have nothing better to do than to try and put this out as only as Landon thing? Before you accuse me of protecting Landon - trust me, I'm no fan of the school (or single sex environments in general), but to suggest that Landon kids are the only ones celebrating their graduation during beach is more than short-sighted!

Amen to this. You cannot rent a beach house for your underage kid to drink in when yoy are running for governor and are the sitting AG. For me it's not about the party it's about the house rental and creating rules that allow your kid to drink. You can do this if you are a private citizen but it's just plain arrogant and stupid of him to do it as the top legal
Official. And those kids did $50, 000 worth of damage to the house

It's not photoshopped but a screen shot of an actual post. There were videos taken and posted that night too.

I think the point of this post is to question whether this latest event feeds into Landon's reputation as a hard-charging party school. Unfortunately, it does. Sure most kids go to beach week to drink. I did the same but with this being the fourth or fifth negative event in the past 10 years (SAT scandal, Duke Lacrosse, Yeardley murder, sex scandal), the beach week story was the last thing Landon needs.

Maret had a 20 year old baseball player last year at graduation (he "reclassified"). They also had several basketball players who were very old. They could not participate in the DC city basketball tournament because of the old players.

Landon and Prep are not alone in having boys who redshirt – and since many of them probably also started kindergarten at age 6 (a common practice), it would absolutely not be uncommon to have multiple 19 year plods (and some 20) by graduation.

Good lord, this is nothing. Highschool kids drink. Always have always will. Every school, public and private. This is not news. Yawn...

Fantasy Sex League (this class), Sats,
Duke, George Huguely, to name a few events.
Now, a Landon beach week is headline news. Too many bad events to be coincidence.
