I hope this does not give another black eye to Landon.

Interestingly, Gansler himself. went to Sidwell.

This is a relevant discussion. Schools should be in the news for # of NMSF and for the art, academic and athletic accomplishments of individual students and organizations (teams). They should be in the news when alumni make positive impacts on society or celebrate major accomplishments. They do not want to be in the news for sex scandals, rape allegations, murder and under age drinking. I think Landon is a great schools but it could do without the negative press. They need to get a good PR person to combat this image.

Yes, as I recall he pulled his kids out and sent them to Landon because he didn't like the sports at Sidwell. Now he's pulled the younger one out of Landon in favor of Bullis because he didn't like the sports at Landon.

As for Landon boys having a party after graduation, during beach week...really - you guys have nothing better to do than to try and put this out as only as Landon thing? Before you accuse me of protecting Landon - trust me, I'm no fan of the school (or single sex environments in general), but to suggest that Landon kids are the only ones celebrating their graduation during beach is more than short-sighted!

It was not photoshopped. If it was, Gansler would have said so.

The funny thing is that he said, when asked by a Post reporter, that he was NOT taking a photo. Instead, he was reading a text. Yeah, when I read a text on my phone, I hold it far away from me. LOL. Just admit you were taking a photo of your son and/or other kids.

No, he said he was pulling the older kids because he didn't like the sports program at SFS, but he actually didn't like the fact that the kid had been disciplined for egregious behavior. He then proceeded to trash Sidwell publicly while tapping his SFS pals for campaign contributions.

I don't think that it gives another black eye to Landon, but it sure does give another black eye to Gansler. The man is running for governor. "How would this look it if were on the front page of the Washington Post?" is a question he should always be thinking about.

"I don't think that it gives another black eye to Landon." What? Read the above post "Schools should be in the news for # of NMSF and for the art, academic and athletic accomplishments of individual students and organizations (teams). They should be in the news when alumni make positive impacts on society or celebrate major accomplishments. They do not want to be in the news for sex scandals, rape allegations, murder and under age drinking.

Now, a Landon beach week is headline news. Too many bad events to be coincidence.

Of your list only the first two items are actually relevant to the school culture and administration or even accurate. The first two are awful and terrible reflections on the students involved and their parents/families. How the school responded and handled these egregious incidents is relevant to the schools reputation.

The rest of your list is stupid unrelated crap people throw at Landon and the hate mongrels are in the wrong. Duke players were exonerated and many college men and adults hire strippers. Not really a big deal although, in my female opinion, really gross. The GH situation is about his family and personal failings. It has little to do with his highschool alma Mater. The last, Beach Week, is an event kids from all over attend and participate in the exact same manner, if not more obscenely, than this rather mild example.

Get off your high horse. Your just throwing mud to see what sticks. Grow up and move on for Gods sake. Thus is soooooo old.

No, I have absolutely no affiliation to Landon.

It doesn't give another black eye to Landon because Landon's eyes are already black.

I actually do hold my phone away from my face to read texts/emails if I'm not wearing my reading glasses . . .

Yeah, right. Gansler walked into a middle of a crowded room of drunk, dancing teenagers in order to read a text. He is clearly snapping a photo of himself, his son and/or other kids. Creepy.

These are valid concerns. Landon is the only school I am aware of that has had such problems. I agree that the families/parents are ultimately responsible but the reality is that a pattern does exist.

The school had severe behavioral problems with several members of this class. The school did nothing. Sex League, this stuff and more. Karma.

What I find most disturbing is that Gansler is walking through the party like this is acceptable behavior. We drank in high school. We did not go topless (even two young women are topless). We were not standing on tables with two men sandwiching a grinding girl. We did not wreck property. If a parent stumbles on to this, they should shut it down. Especially if they are Attorney General.

We are on the fence about switching out of DCPS in HS, but it's stories like this that make me shudder.

Don't assume other private schools are like Landon, pp.
There are some terrific private schools in the area-that are academically focused. Landon is in a class all its own.
