An affair is an affair. Zero difference IMO.

That's the point. An "emotional affair" isn't really an affair at all. Just jealousy.

When a wife is upset that her husband has friends.

It’s beyond friends. My xH had an EA - while I was laying in the hospital half dead from eclampsia and recovering from an emergency c section, and our DC was in the NICU weighing 3 pounds, he was busy writing cheesy love DMs to an ex-girlfriend about how special she is, how nobody else in the world understands him the way she does, how he hopes they can take a trip together, etc. Never even told her that he was married or that he had just had a child. That’s not friendship.

Did you take him back ?

For about three years. Then I ended things and kicked him out - I never got over it, never fully trusted him, and he never did much to earn my trust back. Secrecy and avoidance were also core parts of his character and they manifested in other ways, such as finances and substance abuse.

It’s one of those things that goes deeper than just an affair - he wasn’t able to speak up or try to fix things when anything (marriage, finances, kids, etc) went off track. Instead he’d just look for the easiest way out.

It's not like you were available to talk to.

Maybe he thought you still might die.

That’s a really disgusting thing to say to someone. Thank god you’re single.

If she tries to extort him they might.

OP again: another recording told me this is more than emotional..if I use it for leverage only, can I be charged? Question is for lawyers or who went through it..
Aaah..wish there was another way to find out legally

Like blackmail for a better settlement?
Affairs make almost no difference in most states. What state?

Leverage about what? Nobody cares if your spouse has an affair. There is nothing to lever here. I’m sorry, but wasting your time trying to hurt him is just that, a waste.

Ma’am just divorce already.

Speak to an attorney and share that with them.

There are other ways. You're just not using them because your goal appears to be extortion.

This isn't going to end well for you.

Don't cheat on your stay at home spouse and you'll be fine. Why shouldn't a betrayed spouse divorce if theyre being cheated on? What kind of self esteem do you have that you'd encourage someone to stay?

False. For example, in Virginia it is a felony, with up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $2500.

This doesnt seem correct, google says

"Virginia is now one of 35 states that are considered one-party consent. That means only one party in a conversation needs to consent in order for a recording to be legal."

Where are you getting felony?
