It’s beyond friends. My xH had an EA - while I was laying in the hospital half dead from eclampsia and recovering from an emergency c section, and our DC was in the NICU weighing 3 pounds, he was busy writing cheesy love DMs to an ex-girlfriend about how special she is, how nobody else in the world understands him the way she does, how he hopes they can take a trip together, etc. Never even told her that he was married or that he had just had a child. For about three years. Then I ended things and kicked him out - I never got over it, never fully trusted him, and he never did much to earn my trust back. Secrecy and avoidance were also core parts of his character and they manifested in other ways, such as finances and substance abuse.

It’s one of those things that goes deeper than just an affair - he wasn’t able to speak up or try to fix things when anything (marriage, finances, kids, etc) went off track. Instead he’d just look for the easiest way out. [/quote]
