Quickly Losing 15-20 Pounds

Anonymous
3500 calories = 1 pound of fat.

3500 X 15 = 52,500 calorie deficit
3500 X 20 = 70,000 calorie deficit

52,500 / 42 days = 1,250 calorie deficit per day
70,000 / 42 days = 1,667 calorie deficit per day

The minimum calories most people recommend while dieting is 1,200 per day. You should not drop below that.

Therefore, to burn 15 pounds in six weeks, you can eat a minimum of 1,200 calories a day and burn 2,450 or if you burn more you can eat more. To do this, try walking 15,000-18,000 steps a day along with eating only 1,200 calories.

To burn 20 pounds in six weeks you can eat 1,200 calories a day and burn 2,867. To do this, try walking 20,000 - 25,000 steps a day along with eating only 1,200 calories.

It's do-able but it's going to be tough because you're going to be HUNGRY. Coffee (black) will suppress your appetite but obviously that's not feasible at night so I'd recommend back loading the majority of your calories at dinner time so you can sleep without being starving. You will probably need to skip breakfast and have a small lunch.

High protein. Weights every other day. At least 25 minutes of cardio every day. No more than 1500 calories. Absolutely no sugar or alcohol. If you are over 45, expect this to take way longer than 4-6 weeks.

I am so frustrated. I only realized because none of my clothes fit. It’s largely contained to my gut but I wouldn’t mind toning up all over.

Anyone know how to do this fairly quickly, like 4-6 weeks? Obviously starving myself and exercising two hours a day is not the answer but I would like to be able to wear my clothes again.

You need to get down to around 1500 cal a day to do this or get close in that amount of time. Most people don't have the discipline to do commit to this because it's too hard. But, that's what you'll need to do. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

No way, that's way too much to lose 20 pounds in 28-42 days. 15 pounds is equal to a 52000 calorie deficit. That's a 1250 calorie deficit a day if you are doing this in 6 weeks. If OP is normally eating 2000 calories a day, that's starvation mode.

I’m pretty sure I was drinking most of my calories fwiw. I think eating I was probably closer to 1500-1800. I actually do not eat a ton.

OK so you need to eat 550 calories a day to lose 15 pounds in 6 weeks.

And no one should do this EVER.

Sorry you are going through a hard time OP.

I second the poster who said keto. Especially if you’ve never struggled with weight before, this should do the trick!

If it’s primarily in the gut from drinking wouldn’t not drinking and eating a healthy diet/exercising daily do the trick? You would just need the gut to flatten

100% this. You did not gain weight in 4-6 weeks. You cannot lose it in 4-6 weeks. Period.

-Delay eating until 2pm. Eat a healthy lunch.
-Eat a healthy dinner
-Brush your teeth and don't eat again.

What would be an example of high protein vegan diet?

Keto is a fad and not sustainable. She should not do Keto unless she wants to do Keto for the rest of her life.

Good lord, I'm shocked how many of you are suggesting total BS.

High protein vegan? Again, if she doesn't plan to be vegan for the rest of her life it's BS. Sure some weight will fall off but she will gain it all back.

How about eating a healthy Mediterranean diet, while restricting your calories so you achieve a sustainable deficit?

Guaranteed she will lose weight. In a healthy way.

Try alternate day fasting for a month, then taper off to two fasting days per week. These should be full day fasts - at least 36 hours. It will be challenging at first but gets easier as your willpower builds.

I lost 100 lbs through fasting several years ago and have kept it off completely. Went from 236 to 130 lbs.

Just stick to a low fat diet. Keep your proteins up. Keep your body moving-- power walks a couple times a day. Try to incorporate some weight training a couple times a week. Do that for 4 weeks and note your progress.

My husband cut beer and carbs and started doing 10,000 steps a day. In a month, he probably lost 15 lbs.

For me, I need fats to feel full. So low fat does not work as well.

People like the PP are so weird. No matter the diet, if you go back to your previous eating habits you will regain the weight. I mean.. yes? Why is a “healthy Mediterranean diet” more sustainable than keto? Id argue the opposite.
