Ten easy meals that are healthy - weight loss

I used to snack all the time too.. It’s not necessary and it actually increases hunger.. I eat two meals a day now though I’m sure it’s fine to eat three but I am petite and don’t need a lot of calories anyway. First thing to know is that it Takes your body a while to adjust as ghrelin is produced at times when we normally eat and we feel that hunger and think “oh I need to eat.” You don’t your body is just used to it. we are not designed to have a constant stream of calories. Bad for weight and esp insulin. Start by cutting first snack and then snack in evening. Eat balanced meals with enough fat and protein that you’re not hungry an hour later (eggs better than oatmeal unless you add something but oatmeal and fruit is all carbs). Intermittent fasting would be good for you. Esp as you generally don’t eat crap.

Pp here. Also ditch the juice, fructose in juice form is an obesogen. And ditch the frozen dinners too. Processed food is no friend to your gut and weight. And the Diet Coke. I had to ditch that too. All artificial sweeteners except monk fruit and stevia can raise insulin and promote fat storage.

And since you asked for meal recs: I cook for the family and adjust accordingly but I do a sautéed bibimbap with ground turkey and lots of veg as a family meal with brown rice. For lunch I have turkey and Avo sandwich )open face one slice bread) with spinach and tomato or homemade lentil or other soup. Other meals;: air fryer salmon with soy/sesame seasoning and lots of veg; turkey chili with black beans and sweet potato; seared tuna with veg and brown rice; rice bowls with chicken beans veg and avocado; cauliflower tomato pea and chickpea curry (coconut milk is I it too) with brown rice . I also make big veggie soups with beans and out some shredded parm on top as a meal. And in a pinch roast chicken then I make Mexican chicken soup with the leftovers adding tomatoes corn beans and kale. Green salad before dinner all the time. If I get hungry between meals (now fairly rare)!I have avocado on seed crackers with salt or miso packets/broth. Usually the salt and hydration helps. I keep them at work. I have chocolate for dessert but not at night.

Cut out/ drastically reduce the carbs. Make your own lunches instead of buying them/ eating out.

Baked salmon is incredibly easy. Put fillets in foil with pats of butter and some fresh herbs, bake at 425 for 15 minutes. Pair with roasted veggies or a simple side

Agree with the suggestion to do WW or some other tracking method. I would also suggesting simply skipping breakfast, making lunch your main meal of the day, and eating a light dinner.

You mentioned that you heat up samosas or a pizza for dinner. Where do you find the samosas??? I’ve been looking for heat-up samosas.

Thank you!!

NP - they have frozen samosas at Trader Joe’s that are pretty good! Their frozen garlic naan is also amazing. Disclaimer that I don’t consider either of these to be low calorie items though - they would be a treat for me.

Agree with lunch as main meal (a lot of European countries with low obesity rates do this) but would not recommend skipping breakfast, personally. Makes me binge and crave snacks.

Here is a cabbage soup I make regularly that I think is pretty healthy:

Half head red cabbage shredded
2-3 beets shredded
1 carrot shredded
Half an onion chopped
Cover with vegetable broth
Big tablespoon tomato paste or sauce
Splash of apple cider vinegar
Spoonful of sugar (could skip that)
Salt and pepper

Simmer until the cabbage is really soft—that’s the slowest to cook.

It’s best topped with some chopped dill or flat leaf parsley and a spoonful of full fat sour cream but you can skip hoth or those.

I also really love farro cooked in broth mixed with any roasted vegetable and some arugula.

You need to move it, move it. Go for a walk after dinner. Don't snack or eat desserts. After you brush your teeth, you won't want to eat anything else. It doesn't have to be an intense walk but it can't be a slow walk. Do this at least twice a day.
Morning walk, lunch afternoon walk and after dinner.
Don't just eat and sit on the couch.

We make this pretty regularly, and even though my kids would probably say they don’t like cabbage, they scarf it.

Cut out the snacks and exercise more. Also really measure your portions and use an app to track calories. Also, don’t give up if the scale doesn’t budge more than 2lbs a month- it will take time, but small and sustainable changes will add up over time. Give yourself a year, better two, to lose that much.

In the winter I like veggie heavy soups and stews. Top with full fat Greek yogurt…cilantro pumpkin seeds. Lots of good fiber. And cheap/meat free though I e added tofu to the curry.

Sweet potato veggie chili

Cauliflower currry (but I only use one can coconut milk, don’t need two)
