Ten easy meals that are healthy - weight loss

Anonymous
I need to lose 40 lbs for health reasons - 30 lbs at minimum. I am very good at eating a repetitive diet of the same things. It is when I get out of that habit that I just eat whatever.

I have weighed the same weight for 8 years so what I eat now seems fine for maintaining but not losing weight. I am approaching 50 so weight loss takes work.

Currently for breakfast I normally eat either: eggs or an omelet (eggs with veggies and maybe cheese) or oatmeal with frozen fruit, or a homemade oat/fruit/yogurt muffin and a banana
Lunch - often I buy a wrap or a sandwich or a salad for lunch, often snack on peanuts or crackers with cheese or pita and hummus in the afternoon / when I get home from work
Dinner - roast veggies (Carrots, cauliflower), potatoes, chicken or stir fry noodles with veggies and meat or something frozen that I pop in the oven (pizza or samosas type thing) or if I didn't have eggs for breakfast, I might have eggs / omelet for dinner.
Evening snack - popcorn or a small chocolate pudding or more peanuts or cucumber / carrots with hummus

I have a tree nut allergy so I only eat peanuts. I am lactose intolerant and limit dairy. I drink water, diet coke, tea, and small amounts of oatmilk - occasionally juice if I haven't had fruit that day.

I need to replace some of this to lose weight. I am looking for easy to make meals that I can rotate through that will help me with weight loss.

Your lunch is probably a huge calorie bomb if you’re buying a salad/wrap/sandwich. Try making a sandwich at home or packing something else where you can control the ingredients

Only snack on veggies.
Don’t ever eat muffins or nuts. Those are not foods for overweight people. Just say no.
Cut out as much bread and pita as you can.
Make sure you’re getting an hour of strenuous exercise a day.

Nuts are good for you so I would ignore the poster saying not to eat those. I feel like you could lose a few lbs just by cutting out the calories in your drinks. Make all your drinks water or calorie free. No juice or soda unlike it’s diet soda. Easy would be rotisserie chicken and a bag of salad, can make several lunches out of those.

This poster is extreme. Ignore. Labeling foods good and bad is the start of a diet not working as you feel guilty for eating the “wrong” food. It’s all about portions and balance. Nuts are often a culprit as a serving is usually only like 10-12 nuts and if you just take a handful you are eating 2-3 servings which is a lot. Just be really mindful of what you’re eating, let yourself have what you’re craving in moderation, adapt recipes to be lower calories, etc. and exercise….

For dinner I would avoid the oven pizza or samosas. Stick with the roast veggies and a protein, minus any sweet sauces. Cut out the bread in all forms. Keep it simple with:

Eggs with a sprinkle of cheese for breakfast

Salad or homemade wrap for lunch

Roasted veggies and protein for dinner

Snacks: Greek yogurt, nuts, berries, veggies, air popped popcorn

Soup! Filling, easy to get veggies and beans, and you can make a big batch and freeze. I like veggie chili, minestrone, chicken and rice, white bean and celery....

OP what you're eating is fine its how much of it that's the problem. Work out how many calories are in the omelettes with cheese and get that down to 350-400 calories, by reducing the cheese / number of eggs etc.

If you can do this for every meal so that you're eating 1200-1500 only per day you will lose 1-2 lbs per week. I lost 30 lbs this year this way and I'm 54, female, 5'7. But you have to stick with it.

Cut the diet coke and pudding. Fewer crackers. halve the starch you eat at night.

You don't mention exercise. Incorporate a HIIT program or a combo of strength and cardio.

Add beans, whole grains, more cruciferous veggies, more nutrient dense veggies in addition to the cruciferous. Your yogurt should be plain and then add your fresh/frozen fruit
Remove muffins, potatoes (replace with quinoa or brown rice), stir fry noodles

And the pudding and diet soda. Try to drink water only, add some fresh lemon, lime, mint, cucumbers if you need flavor

An easy meal I make is salsa chicken- literally throw salsa and chicken breast in a crockpot. First day you can eat it as a meal (over a grain if you wish), then you can eat it over a salad for other meals, or even with eggs.

This is my favorite quick, easy, healthy dinner:

Egg roll in a bowl: https://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/keto-egg-roll-in-a-bowl/#recipe

I serve with cauliflower rice for me, real rice for spouse and kids
