Seems like they might have figured that out before taking the position, not to mention that Justice would be a shorter commute for teachers living in eastern Fairfax or Arlington. |
It’s no farther east than TJ or Lewis or Hayfield, and less than Mount Vernon or Edison or west Potomac… |
I think Mount Vernon and West Po are difficult to get to, but completely disagree about the others which are much closer than Justice and involve less traffic. We don’t know how many of the vacancies were retirements, illnesses, etc. The pool of replacements is probably much less because of distance. |
| There was a poster who posted months ago about staff dissatisfaction at Justice, and having the most vacancies of any FCPS high school now is certainly consistent with those complaints. It’s reminiscent of the situation years ago when the Washington Post published the results of the FCPS teacher satisfaction surveys and Justice, under Calhoun at the time, was at the bottom. |
So much equity. I love it. |
Justice has more openings than West PO and Mt Vernon combined |
Where, exactly, would you suggest OP post this? It's about a FCPS school. There's literally nowhere else it would be appropriate to post this. |
| Justice teacher here. It is a disaster this year. There is more openings, they just all aren't posted right now. I'm guessing 25+40% of the staff is leaving. |
I'm sorry to hear that. The school had made strides under Penny Gros and it seemed Maria Eck was well liked as well. Is this a situation where Narcisse could improve with some additional mentoring or is it already at Calhoun-level bad? |
Could be why the IB coordinator is leaving. |
Exactly.

Or, perhaps, there are other solutions to parking than paving over a park. For instance, why is a low parking garage not proposed as an option? |
They couldn't get approval for a parking garage. Does any school in Virginia have a parking garage, seems like it would raise safety concerns. As for paving over a park, have you seen the plan? They were going to use an overgrown area that is filled with trash for parking. |
I don't think FCPS builds parking garages for its schools. That would run up the cost quite a bit and raise safety and security issues as well. |
Alexandria does |
