I'm a Justice parent, and I asked my kids about this, and they said none of their teachers are leaving that they know of. However, I looked at the vacancy list, and it is higher than almost all the other schools. My kids really like the new principal--she has a lot of school spirit, and they see her around campus a lot. I know this doesn't make her a good administrator, though, so I can't speak to that.

I noticed that there are positions for 3 (!) physics teachers. Since one of my kids is taking Physics next year, this is a little worrisome. I wonder if it is related to the delay in the Justice addition that was supposed to be started in the fall but has been derailed because of opposition from some community members over parking. The new addition includes a cafeteria expansion, a three-story addition of classrooms, science labs, and special education spaces. I know teachers are frustrated with the crowded space.

It takes a special teacher to want to teach at Justice and my kids have had some really great ones. I hope this is just an anomaly and they find some good replacements.

The addition is starting this summer. They're is no parking now and staff routinely has to park on the street. They're answer is to take away 50 staff parking places and not replacing it

There are also multiple English teachers leaving. This comes on the heels of eliminating Honors English 11 and 12 courses and pushing unprepared kids into IB English classes.

The community activists told the county the park across the street was more important than parking. They apparently expect staff to ride bikes or park in the neighborhood and get tickets.

Justice does seem to be an outlier when it comes to current staff vacancies (the numbers reflect the fact that some positions are part-time positions):

They eliminated honors and regular English 11. Everyone is taking IB English 11.

OP wrong place to post. Most people here want to push out/marginalize the poor as far out into the burbs as possible out of sight and away from goods and services, and then complain about the school’s “abysmal” performance:

Or maybe a principal at a school like Justice with a lot of older and high-risk students wouldn't wait until the fourth quarter when there are already a lot of exasperated teachers and failing students to finally try and establish order.

"As we excitedly head into the fourth quarter, we will increase our support of students having a successful start to each class by arriving on time. All year we have done hall sweeps that take place after the late bell, however we did this once a day. Starting Monday, April 11th, when the late bell rings for classes to start, we will now do a hall sweep every period.

Any student who is out in the hallway after classes start will be greeted at a hall station. Each hall station will have multiple staff members there to escort them to their class once they check-in at the station. As we have done in the past, if a student accrues five or more visits at a hall sweep station they may be assigned detention after school."

Could it be in part that Justice is so Far east in the county that teachers who live in western Fairfax (or Loudoun or Prince William) don’t want to fight traffic and drive past so many other schools?

Or maybe, you know, disruptive students could be appropriately punished rather than handled with kid gloves for fear of "racism." Just a thought.
