Option H is permanent and the old Wootton HS campus will be closed for good?

Great, so don’t pick H. Problem avoided. Play stupid games, get stupid prizes.

Exactly. First the alarmist claim that Wootton families somehow will stick MAGA on MCPS is crazy. But, second why do we keep blaming parents for the mess MCPS created???

It’s just like the other post said, stop blaming the victims.

If a victim of abuse is beaten, do you say stop complaining? Do you say well you see the abuser is abusing you because you complained? You deserve this for complaining.

Now it’s, don’t tell the authorities because some police are bad. We have to think of what an investigation would do to the poor abusers

If MCPS is fully compliant with the law and has no ulterior motive, why are you so afraid of scrutiny from the White House or the DOJ? It is the DOJ’s job to stand up for the civil rights of all Americans - including kids who go to Wootton. OTOH, even if Option H is deemed legal, it is still a a bad look for MCPS to erase a proven top performing school with a Question Mark.

MAGA has nothing to do with anything, and you are NOT a victim. You all advocated your building was unsafe and MCPS provided an alternative to give you a safe victim. Grow up already. Your so called advocates are not doing a good job.

And yes, they will get stupid prizes.

Many kids are going to be rezoned to other schools. What makes Wootton so special that they are the only school that not only shouldn't be impacted but moved to the top of the line for repairs and replacement?

Crown was a gift so had to be built. IT only makes sense to use it and change the usage of Wootton until the time comes that the enrollment justifies another high school.

No, it did not have to be built. I love how everyone thinks they know facts when they don’t. Go look up the deed. It says it can also be used as a public park. If a school truly isn’t needed, why waste millions build it. It could’ve been a great park for community use.

Exactly. This is a stupid mistake that MCPS traps itself in. MCPS could have returned this gift back to Gaithersburg city without any cost.

No, the City of Gaithersburg wanted a new high school. Just like they made MCPS pay for an artificial turf field at their new elementary school and then took over the field for their own use. The City of Gaithersburg wants bling.

Wonderful. Give it to Gaithersburg. Leave Rockville and Potomac alone.

Bingo. But that might leave Crown under enrolled and MCPS would be embarrassed. Also, MCPS wants an instant academic reputation for Crown to justify spending $400M on a new school and to satisfy the developers who poured billions into developing Crown, so it just transplants kids from a top performing school 3+ miles away. “Mission Accomplished” moment and Taylor looks good after being spanked by the Supreme Court last year.

where do you come up with this stuff?

H is almost universally hated. Sure no one option is going to get 100% support or 100% hate, but H—by far—has the most amount of opposition and least amount of support. Nearly everyone at Wootton hates it. Damascus and Magruder hate it.

It’s not even the cheapest option. See above thread.
So tell me, besides “mission accomplished” transplanting some of the top academic students in the county into a school they don’t want to be in, what’s the upside to H?

My general feeling about H was that it's trying to solve two things at once.

When the Superintendent proposed using Crown as a Holding School, Wootton parents were some of the most outspoken in support. I saw a petition circulated saying how dangerous Wootton was in an attempt to get Crown placed as a Holding School and get Wootton some much needed fixes faster.

Crown parents were on the opposite side; they wanted the high school they were promised and paid for in extra taxes, instead of having to be bussed away from the school in walking distance and kids from other schools bussed in.

Option H is an attempt to satisfy both groups. Wootton gets a safe school building, local Crown students get a walkable school in their neighborhood.

? Gaithersburg residents paid extra taxes for Crown?

I thought the land was given to MCPS by the developers, and MCPS's budget built Crown.

Yes they paid extra.

So Option H is MCPS saying “now look at what you made me do?” Or “this is going to hurt me more than it’s going to hurt you”?

This is only an issue because Wootton families are saying it’s unsafe. Take responsibility for your actions.

1. Not all Wootton families are saying this. Most aren’t.
2. Also even if it was unsafe, who is responsible for the building’s condition? Parents or Mcps? Stop the gaslighting. You probably blame victims of violence. If only you didn’t piss off your abuser, you wouldn’t have been abused
3. Assuming it is unsafe, you do realize H would use Wootton as a holding schools for other kids right…
4. So why is Wootton unsafe such that all Wootton kids have to leave and go to Crown yet safe enough for Damascus and Magruder
5. Wait before you even say it—well we would renovate Wootton before it used for other kids—so this means the renovation money does exist AND H isn’t cheaper. Not to mention again…crown is literally more accessible for any high school that needs a holding school.

You should about as inept as MCPS lawyers. Maybe you should apply for a legal position with MCPS. They’ll need more lawyers anyways for the absolute onslaught of lawsuits coming their way if they are dumb enough to pick H.

Your advocates are saying its unsafe. Talk to them.

Many schools have the same issues. Why do you think your school should be first in line?

You need a holding school to make the repairs or kids have to be shuffled to other schools.

You cannot renovate these buildings. Once mold is there it has to be torn down to the studs and replaced.

I’m not PP who wrote the below that I’m about to copy paste. But you keep saying yall asked for H. Can you kindly respond to any of the PP’s points on this faulty MCPS is just giving Wootton parents what they asked for? Thanks.

Wootton wasn’t supposed to be rezoned by Crown until MCPS built a school that will be under enrolled.

My friend, surely you see the issue with your flawless logic.
Damascus and Magruder need a holding school, along with many other schools in the county.
You just said Wootton can’t be renovated (your claim not mine).
So why use Wootton as a holding school? Why not use Crown?

Either Wootton is not unsafe and thus shouldn’t be forcibly evicted out, so no H

Or Wootton is unsafe and thus by your own logic cannot be used as a holding school due to mold that requires to be torn down. If that’s the case, also no H unless you think its ok for Damascus and Magruder kids and others to breath in mold??

So which one is it? Is Wootton safe or not safe? Never mind doesn’t matter, either way answer supports no H.

The real answer: Wootton isn’t unsafe. It needs repairs not renovations. But PP wants to not only stick it to Wootton but also Damascus and Magruder and everyone else in the county.

Fiscally and practically, EFG makes the most sense.

But H pissed off the most amount of people, so of course MCPS will pick H.

Like I said, MCPS loves to play stupid games. I’m not sure how they feel about stupid prizes. Maybe they’ll learn after another embarrassing court battle.

All these ppl supporting H, hope you also support MCPS hiring third party lawyers for $2k/hour PER lawyer.
