Option H is permanent and the old Wootton HS campus will be closed for good?

No wonder Wootton is a pressure cooker.
Ridiculous.

This thread is insane because people who don’t go to W schools love any opportunity to hate on W schools. Don’t yell at me for saying the truth.

Oh honey, we don’t hate the w schools. We are disappointed that your schools get so many more classes and clubs but for those of us who went to them, we know it’s nothing special and don’t want our kids in that environment.

Crown was a gift so had to be built. IT only makes sense to use it and change the usage of Wootton until the time comes that the enrollment justifies another high school.

No, it did not have to be built. I love how everyone thinks they know facts when they don’t. Go look up the deed. It says it can also be used as a public park. If a school truly isn’t needed, why waste millions build it. It could’ve been a great park for community use.

Exactly. This is a stupid mistake that MCPS traps itself in. MCPS could have returned this gift back to Gaithersburg city without any cost.

No, the City of Gaithersburg wanted a new high school. Just like they made MCPS pay for an artificial turf field at their new elementary school and then took over the field for their own use. The City of Gaithersburg wants bling.

Wonderful. Give it to Gaithersburg. Leave Rockville and Potomac alone.

This is only an issue because Wootton families are saying it’s unsafe. Take responsibility for your actions.

1. Not all Wootton families are saying this. Most aren’t.
2. Also even if it was unsafe, who is responsible for the building’s condition? Parents or Mcps? Stop the gaslighting. You probably blame victims of violence. If only you didn’t piss off your abuser, you wouldn’t have been abused
3. Assuming it is unsafe, you do realize H would use Wootton as a holding schools for other kids right…
4. So why is Wootton unsafe such that all Wootton kids have to leave and go to Crown yet safe enough for Damascus and Magruder
5. Wait before you even say it—well we would renovate Wootton before it used for other kids—so this means the renovation money does exist AND H isn’t cheaper. Not to mention again…crown is literally more accessible for any high school that needs a holding school.

You should about as inept as MCPS lawyers. Maybe you should apply for a legal position with MCPS. They’ll need more lawyers anyways for the absolute onslaught of lawsuits coming their way if they are dumb enough to pick H.

Your advocates are saying its unsafe. Talk to them.

Many schools have the same issues. Why do you think your school should be first in line?

You need a holding school to make the repairs or kids have to be shuffled to other schools.

You cannot renovate these buildings. Once mold is there it has to be torn down to the studs and replaced.

My friend, surely you see the issue with your flawless logic.
Damascus and Magruder need a holding school, along with many other schools in the county.
You just said Wootton can’t be renovated (your claim not mine).
So why use Wootton as a holding school? Why not use Crown?

Either Wootton is not unsafe and thus shouldn’t be forcibly evicted out, so no H

Or Wootton is unsafe and thus by your own logic cannot be used as a holding school due to mold that requires to be torn down. If that’s the case, also no H unless you think its ok for Damascus and Magruder kids and others to breath in mold??

So which one is it? Is Wootton safe or not safe? Never mind doesn’t matter, either way answer supports no H.

I don’t think any of the mold schools are safe and all need replacement. Those aren’t the only ones, just the ones that scream the loudest. You realize how hard it is to remediate mold once it’s in the walls.

This is the exact type of logic that I just don't understand.
Instead of saying let's find the solutions to our problems and help lift everyone, it's let's bring others down.
Why are you taking it out at W schools? Take it out on BOE.

Good to know Wootton needs remediation and eventually renovation. MCPS needs to fix its own mistake in building Crown by using it as a holding school.

Oh wait, maybe MCPS is being the elitist here by only wanting Wootton to fill up most of Crown. It doesn’t want the kids from Damascus and Magruder dirtying its shiny new building.

Good point. That tracks with statements Taylor has made to other communities. It also tracks with how he views his place in the county.

I thought the truth was that 40 staff members left Wootton last year. Some changes are needed.

Don’t defect.
Also if you really want to know the truth, you know why? I’ve spoken with several staff who have left.
They told me the new principal is terrible. Made them all teach new subjects—there was public argument in front of kids because the principal tried to make the biology teacher who has been teaching biology for DECADES to switch to physics for no reason but his demented philosophy of changing things up. Things were so bad the teacher union had to intervene on behalf of teachers.
O and who installed this wonderful principal. Dr. Taylor 👌👌👌

So let me get this straight: Wootton parents are responsible for the terrible building condition. And we’re also responsible for this joke of a principal who is forcing teachers out?

Do you realize how stupid you sound? Dont talk about things you know nothing about.

The truth is Wootton kids remain stars and crush it despite a terrible building and a terrible principal, neglect from BOE and hatred from the community.

Fine we’ll continue to thrive despite this. We will thrive ON WOOTTON PARKWAY
