Option H is permanent and the old Wootton HS campus will be closed for good?

Because there is a bigger pool of students and limited spots?

Same thing with classes. What happens if there are more students that request a class then there is room for? I mean if there is enough students maybe they can justify having two classes/periods. But what if the number is more then one classroom size but not quite big enough to justify a second class?

It won't be 3000 students. Some of Wootton's feeders will have to go to QO, QO feeders further away from QO, to Gaithersburg and Crown. They have to shuffle everything.

Was the FLO Analytics fee a one time flat fee or is it an hourly fee? And are they still involved in this process or is everything in the hands of MCPS now?

Because they're the ones that came up with the initial boundary proposals right? Will they be tasked with reshuffling the boundaries in this round too and at an additional cost?

Where is all of this coming from? None of the options on the table involve moving a Wootton cluster to QO, or making Crown 3000 students.

So they will just sell, move to much cheaper areas and then send to private (which they will now be able to afford since they are no longer paying for a house in the Wootton district). That’s how I see this playing out if H goes forward.

So much hysteria. Why would the value of your house go precipitously down when your high school changes from a crumbling building 1 mile from your house to a new building 3 miles from your house, with all of the same students?

Have you not been reading? Its not going to be all the same students. It will pull from Gaithersburg HS feeding schools with option H. It shows one in the initial option but plans include pulling around 1000 student from Gaithersburg HS zones.

Can you post a link to the plan that proposes adding 1000 Gaithersburg students + all of Wootton to Crown?

so yes-because of it being with Gaithersburg HS kids the property values will drop SIGNIFICANTLY. probably looking at hundreds of thousands of dollars of loss for these families.

+1 The sky won't fall because Wootton moved to Crown. That area is closer to the highway and the neighborhood is nice so property values will not go down.

I say this as a QO parent. Our home is almost a million and there are other homes over a million in QO cluster and QO is a mediocre school .

Looks like there are moving parts and things going on behind the scenes.

In today's board meeting, it looks like there will be several Fields Road ES families asking that Fields Road get assigned to Crown HS. Which they rightfully should do so. It makes sense and what should happen (or leave them at QO). But MCPS will come out looking like the good guy by acting like they listened and took it into account in making their decision.

It also sounds like one of the neighborhoods had a meeting with a council member that gave some of this info. I would hope they were giving honest info and not trying to rile up the community or anything.

There is no link for adding the 1000 students yet but that was discussed by one of the school board members at a local HOS meeting last night. That being said just look up option H and you will see Rosemont Elementary is listed as being part of the plan. That’s a Gaithersburg HS feeder elementary. Then the plan is to increase from there. But it doesn’t matter, even the one school being in the plan will cause the problems.

By your logic, Cabin Branch property values should have dropped when they got rezoned to Seneca Valley. That did not happen, so there is no need for this hysteria.

That is not an equivalent comparison.

So Wootton is so high and mighty that a poor school cannot join them? GTFO.

I really hope Fields Rd, Rosemont and maybe part of Brown Station also goes to Crown along with Wootton. They deserve a good learning environment too.

Sure it is. What makes this different?
