No, it did not have to be built. I love how everyone thinks they know facts when they don’t. Go look up the deed. It says it can also be used as a public park. If a school truly isn’t needed, why waste millions build it. It could’ve been a great park for community use. [/quote]

No, the City of Gaithersburg wanted a new high school.  Just like they made MCPS pay for an artificial turf field at their new elementary school and then took over the field for their own use.  The City of Gaithersburg wants bling. [/quote]

Bingo. But that might leave Crown under enrolled and MCPS would be embarrassed. Also, MCPS wants an instant academic reputation for Crown to justify spending $400M on a new school and to satisfy the developers who poured billions into developing Crown, so it just transplants kids from a top performing school 3+ miles away. “Mission Accomplished” moment and Taylor looks good after being spanked by the Supreme Court last year. H is almost universally hated. Sure no one option is going to get 100% support or 100% hate, but H—by far—has the most amount of opposition and least amount of support. Nearly everyone at Wootton hates it. Damascus and Magruder hate it.

My general feeling about H was that it's trying to solve two things at once.

When the Superintendent proposed using Crown as a Holding School, Wootton parents were some of the most outspoken in support. I saw a petition circulated saying how dangerous Wootton was in an attempt to get Crown placed as a Holding School and get Wootton some much needed fixes faster.

Crown parents were on the opposite side; [b]they wanted the high school they were promised and paid for in extra taxes,[/b] instead of having to be bussed away from the school in walking distance and kids from other schools bussed in.

Option H is an attempt to satisfy both groups. Wootton gets a safe school building, local Crown students get a walkable school in their neighborhood.[/quote]
