How can anyone believe in god when there's so much evil in the world?

Anonymous
Evidence comes from Genesis 5:4, which states, “After he begot Seth, the days of Adam were eight hundred years; and he had sons and daughters.” Adam’s sons apparently found wives among his daughters. While today that would be creepy and illegal, following the lines of evidence reveals that it was healthy and normal back then.

This was the ancient world. It was very different then.

How is that evidence in any way? A claim he lived eight hundred years?

Agreed it is creepy.

The evidence is written in the Bible. If you reject that I cannot convince you in any other way and you will have to go on an archeological journey to find hard evidence either for or against this bibical claim.

Good luck to you, and may you find much evidence to bring back to the modern world.

God created "the devil" and thus created evil.

Unless you're saying God is not all knowing or all powerful?

Or you're saying that The Devil is a God, and believe in a polytheistic system?

God created “the devil?” God created Lucifer as an angel, his most favored and beloved angel.

As with Adam and Eve, Lucifer was not content to be as he was created. He wanted to be God. He rebelled against God and was cast out of heaven.

Lucifer is jealous that God loves humans and tries to destroy us.

But Jesus has already claimed victory and Satan will be soon driven from his place and punished.

Satan’s “victory” is temporary.

You are wasting your typing time. I tried to explain this to OP who claims how God and Satan are on equal footing and how somehow this proves that God is not omnipotent and monotheistic. OP clearly never read the Bible. That's why discussing Christianity with non-Christians is so difficult. I cannot legally get on a highway unless I pass a driving exam. I cannot discuss "Idiot" unless I read the book. Everything else is a speculation and lazy passing of a time, or even some form of psychological therapy for self-doubt and not a serious conversation between individuals who all read and and understood the text. When I was at MBA school the first thing all lecturers would ask: "Has everyone read the text and prepared their slides?"

I don't think you quite understand what evidence means.

The standard you propose could easily apply to any holy book, or even Harry Potter.

Not the PP you are talking about, but many of us non-believers have read the bible (and other holy books). That's how they became non-believers.

Some are even quite expert on the subject. For instance, Bart Ehrmann, and Matt Dilahunty.

Correct. All religions are based on a system of thought and embrace of faith that a quest for evidence will not be satisfied by.

Your search will forever be fruitless and unsatisfactory to you, but you will persist.

Did God not know this was going to happen, when God created Lucifer? Is God not all knowing?

Biblically educated non-believer would never claim that God and Satan are on equal footing in the Bible. That is an utterly non-Biblical claim.

You have every right to not believe but those that believe have every right to believe. If your goal is to prove believers wrong based on your view, I don’t see the point.

+1 Bible states emphatically no one is equal to God. He is not equal to His creations. We

are not his equal and neither is Satan. God has dominion over Satan and will eventually vanquish him. Satan cannot vanquish God.

I give you tremendous credit for admitting it.

Other than the religion you were raised with or converted to, what else do you believe this way?

My goal in the post you responded to was to refute the point that non-believers don't know the bible. That's it.
