Well then, I guess McConnell needs to cut his losses and begin legislating over in the senate. The House and Senate can get together and get a bipartisan bill that could sustain a veto override. WTF does Trunp/Putin have over McConnell that makes him so afraid to go against the Don? |
No. Don’t give in to the toddler. He can tantrum all he wants. But don’t be an ENABLER. |
with the assumption that the House and Senate have reps who aren't narcs themselves and therefore, flexible and willing to bend a bit to the right and left I think most people are fearful, especially in this situation. We elect people who represent our needs and rely upon them to speak on our behalf. But as many climb, they become self-serving, entering preservation mode. Have you seen their salaries? Granted, they can't compete with Bezos. still . . . Pelosi will now earn over $200K, which is about $30K more than she was receiving before the move up. She's worth MILLIONS, however. These people don't feel financially strapped. So while they can talk the talk in public, I don't trust that they are compassionate and feisty enough to support their constituents behind closed doors. Maybe I'm too tainted. But if you look at most organizations with bloated bureaucracies, you'll see a lot of fat at the top preserving status quo. One example is the school system. Having worked at the central office level, I heard talking but never saw true action - and this from people making close to $200K. Why rock the boat when it could affect your position? I am tainted - but for a good reason, as I think we're doomed. |
you mean "jaded," I think; but I get your point. |
I disagree. He has already given the democrats enough sound bytes to sustain them through the 2020 election. His initial thought process was that most feds are dems so here’s a way to stick it to them without hurting his base. If hexhas a single brain cell left, he is starting to realize that the shutdown affects everyone eventually. People have to fly places and feel safe. People want their tax refunds as well as help preparing their taxes. Farmers want their subsidies. His base relies on “handouts” more than he knows. Vacations are being cancelled. This shutdown becomes more far-reaching with every passing day. Not to mention the fact that a concrete wall across the entire border is not physically possible. The use of eminent domain to acquire the land will forever rob the republicans of claiming to be the “party of small government.” Trump already put the final nail in the “party of Christian/Family values” title. What will they have left? |
I need a PIN to file my taxes due to identity theft. It isually shows up by New Year.....not this time. I also read that SNAP can’t fulfill its February benefits if this continues. Of course, Trumps base will probably like that. |
yes, much more appropriate But on a Freudian level I must be feeling contaminated! |
This. Trump is just now starting to realize this. It takes him a while to figure things out. |
Amen. Critical thinking skills seem to have eluded this administration. |
I think more of Trump’s base is dependent on federal money than you realize. |
Keep your gubmint hands off Medicare!
I think more of Trump’s base is dependent on gov’t money than THEY realize |
I'm seeing a lot of facebook posts from friends who have essential federal government positions working without pay. They are pissed. And rightfully so. |
But Trump isn't personally hurt by any of this. He doesn't care that federal government employees aren't paid. He thinks they're all Democrats. He continues on cozy in the White House while an entourage of unpaid workers cater to his every whim. |
I truly don’t give a shit if we build a wall or not. And I’m just not that loved by protecting dreamers. Address my student loans & I’ll follow you anywhere.
Love, A dem & spouse of shutdown contractor |
Trump is having a tantrum. McConnell is the dad who is “working late” but really out having drinks with his pals. Fortunately mom knows what to do. |
