+1. Next week. Dems will come up with some smaller amount for "border security" while saying it's not for a wall, Trump will cave, declare victory, and the great unwashed will believe his tweets.

Dems will hold to their initial proposals. They now have power and will wield it. There is zero incentive for them to give a penny more.

I disagree. He has already given the democrats enough sound bytes to sustain them through the 2020 election. His initial thought process was that most feds are dems so here’s a way to stick it to them without hurting his base. If hexhas a single brain cell left, he is starting to realize that the shutdown affects everyone eventually. People have to fly places and feel safe. People want their tax refunds as well as help preparing their taxes. Farmers want their subsidies. His base relies on “handouts” more than he knows. Vacations are being cancelled.

This shutdown becomes more far-reaching with every passing day.

Not to mention the fact that a concrete wall across the entire border is not physically possible. The use of eminent domain to acquire the land will forever rob the republicans of claiming to be the “party of small government.” Trump already put the final nail in the “party of Christian/Family values” title.
