I think there was a link to the WaPo article?

She screamed. How did this happen- how is it possible that a girl child can be raped while fighting and screaming in the middle of the day and it can go undetected? MCPS, you better be conducting security assessments for your facilities. Right now. There are plenty of MCPS parents who are security experts (like me)- lots of FBI agents, cops, military- who would do this for free. So don't let cost be a factor.

You can't be everywhere at anytime. A girl was killed in a fight in the bathroom in Delaware last year. Her head hit the sink during the fight. 2 girls against the victim and she died on school property.

School shootings can't seemed to be stopped all the time either.

Horrible things sadly do happen in school, but incidents of assault, rape, murder, and kidnapping have increased dramatically with the increase of teen refugees and illegal aliens. They are often not reported or make the news because it doesn't look well. The police know MS-13 has had a massive comeback in the past few years. Montgomery Village has had so much crime, their home values are going down. But within the past 2 years, there have been more happenings on school campus. Situations with these teens that just don't care.

There were over 200 rapes last year and you just want to confirm that this one <1% of the rapes was by an illegal immigrant?

Yes, this one hits home. In school, during class, young victim, old male students committed the crime, etc. yes. I only care THIS one. Do you want to bail out the poor 'kids' who escaped gang and violence in their home country? Do you want to open your home for them?

Not the PP, but yes. Because it matters. Because this poor 14 year old girl was at school. There is a reasonable expectations by parents that your kid will not get raped at 9am at her school.

In this case, the girl was attacked by an someone who should not even have been in this country.

If they are convicted, why should taxpayers pay for their incarceration? Can they just be deported? The process has already been started for the adult.

I'd love to hear how this might be done. Would it involve an assessment of school culture and risks, as well as the building itself? I'd also be interested to know what sort of recommendations might come out of a security assessment for a school. Cameras? Hall monitors? Programs geared to certain sub-populations within the schools? Other? Asking because I love the idea but don't understand what it might entail.

If deported, they could return again...

I don't want to open my home to any rapists. I actually have not read any rape reports that I thought wow this one ... Not a big deal. Especially middle aged white men, like milo, having sex with children.

I'd be interested in hearing more also. Sounds like they already have cameras. The principal could obviously use some guidance on this since she wrote a very weak letter in response to the incident.

I'm the person who wrote this. There are different methodologies for security asssessments. A robust assessment would include an understanding of the threat (e.g., what threats to security have happened, have been attempted, have been threatened); risk (what is likely to happen at the low and high end, and of that what can be managed with countermeasures) and vulnerability (what about the security environment can be exploited by a bad guy?) The fact that the child screamed and fought strongly suggests that RHS has vulnerability issues that could be mitigated.

What does mitigation look like? Sometimes it is cameras and guards but there is more to it than that. This bathroom was secluded, and secluded areas are vulnerable. You can change foot traffic by where you set up offices, how you funnel traffic through (i.e., making it so that people have to traverse an area) in order to avoid a dead zone. I'm sure MCPS has had some of this done but it clearly needs more and I'm positive that parents with this expertise would do it for free. I would.
