Children Sacrificed to Pay for Easy Access to Guns

They are kept in a locked safe when they are not on his person (and he doesn't carry if he's drinking, horsing around with the kids, etc). Since my brother used to find my dad's revolver and point it at me when we were kids, this is a zero tolerance issue for me.

I also practice extended rear facing in properly installed Carseats and forced the kids to take swimming lessons until they were competent. See? Not mutually exclusive.

I'm fine with people owning guns for protection. I'm also sick and tired of babies dying because of this shit. We need more research into this, like we have on drowning and car seats. Doctors should ask every parent at every appointment if there are guns in the home and how they are secured. There are things that could be done other than a blanket gun ban.

2-year-old NC boy accidentally shoots himself with parents’ gun
POSTED 10:56 AM, FEBRUARY 21, 2017

The child’s mother told FOX8’s Michael Hennessey the gun was placed in their truck on Saturday so the child’s father could put down an animal on the farm. On Sunday [the next day], the family was playing outside, the mom said. They needed to do some work on the farm and the child was in the truck with his father as they went to a garage on the property to get some equipment.

People need to go to jail. Period. Child protective services gets up in arms about free range parenting but these morons put themselves and their children at serious risk of death.

This is what we're up against. A child is killed as the result of a gunshot every two days and yet this is dismissed as an "occasional mishap."

Orangeburg, SC

Deputies believe the child's father had car trouble earlier in the day, and called his wife to pick him up. Before he left the car behind, officers say the father took his gun out of the car and put it into his wife's car, where his son was a passenger. Deputies say as the father was at Sunshine Recycling trying to find a part to repair his car, the child grabbed the gun. “At this time, we are praying and thinking about this child who we believe at this point shot himself after a series of events that placed him next to a loaded weapon,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “It’s just tragic and we’re pulling for him to make a full recovery.”

This article wants me it's about the aftermath of a young boy accidentally shooting his sister due to family negligence. The family is still obsessed with owning guns. I have never seen a family in more dire need of therapy in my life http://wapo.st/2gNMwFG

March 17, 2017
the children left the restaurant ahead of their parents and went to the family vehicle, where they found a .380-caliber pistol. As one of the children was playing with the weapon, it discharged, injuring the child in the hand and striking the other child in the back.
