Are you talking about the one who is mad that her parents wouldn’t buy her a Manhattan condo or pay oos tuition?

She’s known here as brunch granny

Are you brunch granny? Because it seems obvious that one or two of you crazies are force meme’ing this. It is not even funny. But I guess that’s what you fill your days and nights with when you’re single and childless.

LOL. Brunch granny is one of the most entertaining aspects of DCUM. Even the "geriatric" moms like me love to laugh at her nonsense. DP.

Geriatric pregnancy, dear. Medical term for pregnancy anytime a woman is over the age of 35. More at risk for complications like miscarriage, congenital disorders and high blood pressure.

There she is ^^^

She’s unforgettable, for sure. But no, I’m talking about the poster who showed up on that thread—and on so many other threads—to tell us that abusive parents do exist, complete with a para or two of her own bio, so therefore OP’s parents must be abusive.

Eh, but on the Manhattan condo/oos tuition thread, the OP did not actually have a real problem -- her parents were not abusive, she was just really entitled. So in that situation, a comment or two about what abuse actually looks like is useful IMO. It helps demonstrate to OP that while her parents may not have given her everything she ever wanted, or even everything they could have technically afforded to give her, this is not the same as true abuse. That's on topic, in my book.

I havne't noticed this being a problem on other threads.

I agree that writing about real abuse can be instructive. Unfortunately that wasn’t what was going on. The adult child with truly abusive parents was using her own history to say that some parents could be abusive, therefore OP’s parents must also have been abusive and any doubters were wrong.

You. The endlessly perseverative conservative Christian with the faux persecution complex who never, ever shuts up about the supposed “pair of atheists,” and who refuses to move on to a site where they actually have a forum specifically for Christians to discuss among themselves, because then you’d lose your opportunity to play the victim.

-not an atheist, Episcopalian

Newsflash: I’m Episcopalian too, and this is the very first time I’ve pointed out the pair of atheist haters. Although there’s someone else who does that and they may be conservative, but I don’t know that.

Tell me you’re OK with this pair that derails so many threads with, let’s call it what it is, bigotry, and who start so many hateful threads?

Why do you think it's a "pair" of posters?

Why aren't you making the same comments about the atheist-hater threads/comments?

Because I’m tired of going to the religion forum and seeing a thread like “Don’t Catholic girls’ communion dresses creep you out?” The moderator cleaned that one up a bit but it’s still there near the top. So obviously I think that other poster might must have a point.

A question for you: Why do you think the near-daily abuse of religion and Catholics is OK?

(And again, I’m not Catholic)

So you are OK with the Atheist-hater threads. Maybe you are the one who starts them?

No I don’t start them.

But this is basic chicken-and-egg stuff.

There would be no threads complaining about atheist behavior (totally different from your reframing about hating atheists, btw) if a few atheists weren’t behaving in hateful, bigoted ways. Duh.

Likewise. Stop creating hateful, bigoted anti-atheist threads and I’ll stop posting.

Can you point to a recent thread that hates on atheists? No, you can’t.

But we can all find plenty of threads that complain about atheist behavior in the Religion forum. Bigoted behavior by a small number of atheists (like “Catholicism is barbaric” on the previous page unless the moderator has already deleted it) elicits a response.

You seem to be arguing that you should be able to insult people of faith with impunity, and that believers shouldn’t be allowed to respond. That’s not how it works.

Or, you’re a troll and you’re loving the attention.

Bottom line: don’t start fights and then whine when people respond.

There are hostile comments everyday. GMAFB.

I don't start fights, I end them. If you don't want me commenting on threads, then behave yourself.

The bolded drives me crazy. So annoying.

They always misspell words in British uni terminology (like “Michaelmas”) and get corrected but they continue to

It is spelled Michaelmas. It’s the fall term at a number of British universities

I know. The poster pp is referring to usually spells it wrong.

and you remember that years later? You REALLY need to get a life. Start with your envy problem.

How do YOU know it's years later?

I actually took the time to google it because I have a child interested in applying to Oxford. There is only one mention (“not many”) of a an excited parent of an MPhil student at at Oxford where the parent uses the wrong spelling for Michealmas. Here only in DCUM. Just one entry and you were called out subsequently by multiple parents in that thread for being an “a**” and other insulting terms. Happy to provide the link

Thank you! I see that thread constantly and every time I think to Google who is Jenn H I think "It will be gone soon; it's probably no big deal." But it's still there!
