Nope, Hogan is toast. |
Wishful thinking or based on what reasonable assumption (or polling)? |
Yep. This is why Jealous has my vote. |
Same here. And I hope he gets the gen assembly to get the state tax rates up where they should rightly be. This is NOT a poor state. Most people I know are very well off, and can absolutely afford more. |
I disagree. Last thing we need is higher taxes. |
Higher taxes will just drive people out of the state (to Virginia). Maryland tax rates have to stay competitive with Virginia and the District. |

I'm a pretty deep democrat and I'll vote against Hogan any day because of the vindictive way he has yanked funds from the public schools.
However, I find it very likely he will win reelection. He has one of the highest approval ratings among Republican governors in the country, 66%. The only way he might lose the election is if the blue wave knocks him over, and I don't think it's that strong against him. |
More taxes doesn’t translate to more services, better roads, etc. If the state has more money, it has more resources to waste. I prefer to focus on who will solve the waste when I vote. |
What waste? |
Agreed. He’s played it smart. His proposal to widen the highways probably won him more than a few MoCo converts as well. And there isn’t a Dem candidate that is really jumping to the forefront of the race. |
Well, and if most people that YOU KNOW are well off then we should act on that, right? You live in a BUBBLE lady, the rest of us are struggling mightily to raise SN children, elderly parents, sending kids to college with no help and paying HUGE property and local MoCo and sales taxes, but since you are your country club friends have enough money the rest of us should also pay more. To support immigrants so they can come clean your house and landscape your yard at cheap rates, is that right? 12th highest tax rate in the country isn’t high enough for you - because YOU have some money left over each month (unlike the rest of us). Enjoy your next family vacation to Europe or your private island, lady, considering staying there maybe. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/10/us-states-with-the-highest-tax-burdens.html |
He yanked money from the Baltimore public schools because those selfish fools weren’t spending the money on the children and the school facilities as they should have been. |
Widening the beltway into people’s yards is not winning him votes in MoCo. Those developer loving fools in the county council will immediately support rampant high density housing that will fill the beltway up again before they even finish the project. |
Have you ever lived somewhere with a low tax rate? I’m not saying higher taxes are the answer, but I do know there are more and better public services here in MoCo for kids with special need than, say, in Kansas. |
Uh, he yanked money from every school jurisdiction. Not just Baltimore. |
