I find the front-runner uninspiring and although I have always voted democrat, I'm not a mindless zombie. |
| I'm not a mindless zombie, but I don't see the economic climate or schools improving under Hogan. And taxes are high despite the lack of improvement. Particularly in the era of Trump, I'm happy to give the Democratic nominee the benefit of the doubt, unless he's found to be a pedophile or something. |
"Party lines" What a terrible mentality. It's why "Washington" is so "washington". Dem voting for Hogan. I refuse to vote for a democrat for the sake of "the party". |
Who do you think the frontrunner is? |
I'm not voting for a Democrat for the sake of "the party." I'm voting for the Democrat because I don't think people and our state run institutions are better off after 4 years of Hogan. |
|
It looks like very few of the Democratic candidates have a strong following. Current polling shows that 44% are likely to vote for Hogan while the leading Democratic contenders (Rushern Baker and Ben Jealous hover around 31%. And there are 9 Democratic candidates running. Hard to set oneself apart in such a crowd.

That will all change after the primary. Dems will come to their senses. |
| Ben Jealous seems like the obvious choice. Strong leadership background, respected organization, executive experience. |
| I hope so. Md can't afford for our business rep to fall any further, our schools to become any more chaotic our our real estate tax deduction to be any more adversely effected. |
But under Hogan, MD schools fell in national rankings and businesses like Discovery exited without Hogan even lifting a finger til they made their plans to exit public. |
Yeah but a liberal democrat will have the dam break. Hogan can't stop the trend but he can slow it down. |
And has never even pretended to pay lip service to how he will pay for his planned vast expansion of government. Let me give you a hint- GIANT TAX HIKE. |
| He lost me when he went all out for Ed Gillespie. |
And? Services cost money. Schools and highways cost money. Programs to improve the lives of less affluent people and immigrants cost money. Public transit solutions cost money. Maryland residents CAN afford to be contributing more to our state, but they won't if they keep being given the option not to. Things aren't going to get better or more fair as long as selfish people continue to vote with their wallets. It's shameful really. |

The distinct lack of a Democratic front runner, or even any candidate that can even remotely come close to being considered a front runner, in a staunchly Democratic state pretty much guarantees the election for Hogan.
The Democratic establishment in Annapolis normally have their candidate primed up and ready to go years in advance. But not this time around. They could easily take Hogan down. But they are not. Interesting. |
