Will Larry Hogan win Re-Election?

If the election were held today would you vote for the Democrat or Larry Hogan?

Hogan. We need middle of the road folks, whether R or D.

Hogan. Particularly with the SALT tax issues.

The only way I see Hogan losing is if there is a huge anti-R tide in Maryland where enough people vote D simply because it's a D and not because of anything Hogan has done. This is still a possibility.

Other than that I see Hogan winning re-election. A big clue is how the state Democrats have so far failed to turn out a truly capable candidate or rally behind one. It's as if the Democratic establishment isn't serious about wanting to win this election and are just watching the the wannabe sacrificial victims compete against either other. The potentially big names are staying away and the big players in Annapolis who control the machinery don't seem to care either. They even seem to like Hogan.

As such, Hogan will probably sweep the Baltimore suburbs and Howard County and carry the rest of the non-DC parts of the state where people are not as politically ideological and Democrats tend to be more moderate. Baltimore City, Montgomery County, PG County and now Charles County will likely vote for whoever wins the Democratic nomination, but will the margin be high enough to defeat Hogan?

Yes, Hogan will win. He's considered a productive counterweight to the legislature, and he earned a lot of personal goodwill for his grace and good humor during his cancer struggle.

- a Democrat.

Who are is his likely opponent? I could see it going either way depending on the strength of the opposition.

He's shown he cares only about Maryland, and Marylanders, and the state is a better place for it. People should ignore parties in state and local elections; it has become way too much "us vs. them," and it isn't productive. I've given up on Congress altogether, but it isn't too late at the state level (in Maryland anyway).

I will vote for Hogan in a heartbeat.

"IF" he comes through. But his office is an intellectual wasteland, similar to Trump's. Because they don't know government. The General Assembly will do all the heavy lifting coming up with good policy to address how Maryland is getting destroyed by the new federal tax laws. Well, I hope so anyway. They have the capacity to address it. But will they?

This thread is bonkers -- Hogan hasn't done anything other than build roads in rural areas.

Nice platitude. What exactly has he done for Marylanders?

+1 He also refused to speak out against the Trump Muslim ban and has that autocratic school calendar policy that many parents hate. If there is a decent alternative, I’m happy to vote Democrat.

It makes Md look sane like Mass. It's bad for business to appear unhinged and collectivist. Hogan comes across as even handed and level headed.
