24 Girls Recruiting

The 24 M&D team seems to be doing considerably better than the 23 M&D team from a recruiting standpoint

Lets wait until all of the fall commitments are complete before making any judgement.

Committing early is not always a good thing. Sometimes, it means limited offers and sometimes it means a girl has a clear first choice.

Would not surprise me if most DMV clubs do better than normal this season. The 2024 class is one of the weakest classes on Long Island in quite some time.

Mindy loves MD girls...

Mindy has definitely recruited the DMV hard for USF. She signed a solid 2023 class that included local players from Heros, Pride, MD United, and VA Metro. As noted, she added 2024s from NEMS and SW. Based on her success at Jacksonville she will have USF competing early in the AAC with Florida and JMU.

Agree that early results on recruiting don’t mean a thing. It is a long process. It will be interesting to see how the 24 Cap team compares to the 23 Cap team. The 23 team had a great team orientation with relatively few “me, me, me” players. College Coaches liked the way the team played, came to watch games and recruited accordingly. Team composition and team orientation are very important. Hopefully the 24 team has the same level of success as the 23s.

No one is leaving SW, Hero’s or M&D to go to Capital. That traffic is going the other way…

Saying this doesn’t make it true. It’s a dead-horse topic that has been de-feathered countless times on this forum. There are more surprises in store for the Cap 24s. Stay tuned …

does anyone have any actual useful information on recruiting? i.e. how many players is each college program taking for their 24 class? has anyone already filled their recruiting class?

Mindy is a great coach but why a kid would ever want to go to USF for college is hard to fathom. It’s not a well known university for anything and it’s not at all academically impressive. Kids choosing this school clearly are not focused on college for learning.

It is true, continue to deny it though. Traffic flows south to north. No one is leaving M&D to come back to inferior clubs.

Really tough to say... Each school is different.

You’re the guy who went north. You represent the 1% who do.

Do you think Pride 24s will have a good enough recruiting class to sway the 27s to stay together next year in HS?

I have seen a lot of good 24 goalies already committed. If my daughter is a 25, do you think those schools will be looking for a goalie next year too, or should we focus our efforts elsewhere?

This is a good question. I think each college is different - I would simply look at the goalies on the rosters, along with the 2023/24 commits of your daughter's target schools to get a feel of the trend/approach of how many goalies the program has. Some only carry 3, some don't have more than 1 per grade, some have more, etc. But if your daughter is a 2025, and her dream school committed one 23 and one 24 goalie...or even 2 24 goalies - I would certainly use that info when considering the school.

It really depends on the school. As a general rule, many will take goalies 3 out of 4 years on average. So if they take a 24, but didn't do a 23, odds are that they will keep the door open to looking at 25's (but it doesn't mean they are in the market for sure). If they have both 23's and 24's, less likely, but not ruled out on a 25. You should also have an idea of their roster. How many goalies do they usually carry, how many current ones will still be there when your dd would get there, and how do the recruits that are coming rank ? Schools that don't take a 24 are more likely to look at 25's. A good recruiting director should be able to talk to coaches and see if they are in the market, still deciding, or have ruled it out.
