24 Girls Recruiting

Anonymous
Lots of factors as to where a girl ends up: talent, coaching, family, school, academic performance, etc. almost all of them need to line up to get to a top program at a high academic school. Capitol is not the whole story for any of them but it is part of the story for almost all of them.

Pride’s second goalie just committed to George Washington as Well

Don't know total numbers, but it seems that '24 has been a much better year for Pride than the 23's.

Has the new Dir of Recruiting been involved with the '24 class?

Yes the new pride recruiting director has been very involved

The Pride ‘23s probably had the better talent, but received almost no recruiting support. 5-6 of those players landed at top 35 D1 programs and another group went NESCAC. The 24s have several top 35 D1 recruits, so it is hard to say it’s been much better. The 24s have certainly committed sooner as a result of the new recruiting directors efforts. It’s a good building block for Pride. If KM can keep her best players from going to Capital the club will continue to improve on its commit list each year moving forward.

Does pride have equal playing time for its 24s and 25s?

Just curious what recruiting support is supposed to be from these clubs. Not trying to start any drama. My DD friend is on 2024 B level team and she says recruiting support is basically the club paying for a profile page, subscriptions to unedited video for some of the tourneys, a 30 minute zoom intro meeting, and a 5 page intro to recruiting document. The gist of it is sign up for the NCAA clearinghouse, fill out your profile, edit your video, contact coaches you are interested in and then email them what tourneys you will be at, try to attend some showcases like the D3 one, and sign up for prospect camps when you get invited to them (though you may get invited to a lot of them as a money grab). Tips on how to act with a coach and stuff like that. But you are basically responsible for your own recruiting.

Is there more than that? Is her friend getting screwed over by her club? For a frame a reference, plenty of the 2023 equivalent team got offers.

PP In an effort not to cause any drama, I wanted to point out this is a club near Philly, not a local club. But she's the only one we know going through the process and from her perspective that is normal.

It is on the player and that was our experience with DD who ended up at a mid-major D1. Too many players forget that at the end of the day, they do need to be the ones steering their own recruiting. Recruiting directors are not the end all be all but are a major help, especially early on and before Sept. 1.

Be realistic and if you don't get contacted by who you want either reframe your focus - a hard lesson for DD - or understand that the road will be harder. And never forget - coaches talk. You never fully know who knows who.

There are many of coaches and recruiting directors that will not stake their reputation to coaches if they know you are just not good enough for that team. If you want a top 25 team and are not top 25 talent, there is only so much they can do.

Pride’s college committ list for ‘24s is pathetic. Leaving your DD on Pride for HD is about the dumbest move you can make.

Yeah, I’m not going to lie, I know many of the girls in that team, and they should Jane already committed by now. I don’t understand why because my daughter is not with that program, but they should definitely have more girls than this committed already

They definitely should. The reason why really started with the 2023 Pride class. That class was strong and ranked as high as 8th at one time. I say this only to demonstrate the level of talent on that team. That group lost its Recruiting Director at the start of their freshman year. She was great and IMO had she stayed the recruiting experience and outcome for that class of players would have been much different.

What happened was Pride hired a replacement Recruiting Director that looked good on paper but never engaged with the players or parents. It set a bad tone and the end result was many players who should have committed early in September found themselves with no direction or interest at the time. It wasn’t unusual for college coaches to say they were not even familiar with the club. This class should have been Prides springboard, instead it was ignored and not provided any direction to get through the recruiting process. Add to this Pride had no recruiting history to fall back on or former players to lean on for guidance. And the teams coach had little to no interest in helping and didn’t know how to best showcase the players.

So, an absent Recruiting Director, a director who didn’t act quick enough to move on from the replacement RD, few college connections, no recruiting history, no former committed players to lean on, and a coach that just didn’t seem to care put these players in a bad spot. Thankfully many on their own were able to land at solid college programs. To your point, their journey was way too long though.

Things have changed a little for the more recent Pride classes. Whereas the 2023 class was able to keep most of their players together it sounds like many in the last few classes have left for Capital. This will certainly impact the recruiting numbers for Pride.

The 2024s stayed with Pride, but many of the 2025s and 2026s left for Capital after seeing what happened to the 2023s. Agree that several more of the 2024s should already be committed. I’m confident they will find good homes after the fall tournaments. And some may choose high D3 programs instead of D1. By the end of the process, the list will be solid. But it will be a longer process than expected for several players.
