Nobody is apologizing for undocumented people in this country. Like everything else in life, it is a question of priorities. What government services are you prepared to give up or how much higher taxes are you prepared to pay in order for the government to devote resources to rounding up and deporting millions of people who are not causing any trouble? Personally, I'd rather see law enforcement resources going arrest violent citizens than non-violent non-citizens. |

Should change the subject to:
Illegal alien murders Fairfax teen The fact that she's Muslim is irreverent. |
True. Headlines usually focus on what happened, though, the victims, rather than the one who did it. From a psychological perspective, that makes sense. No reason to give the criminal any more media attention. |
|
The fact that he is an illegal alien isn't relevant either
Once in country Illegal aliens commit fewer crimes on average So there is bias from the left and right on this one |
| Any evidence of a hate crime yet? |

Question:
Why is the family so convinced it was because of her religion? This seems more like that MS-13 murder in Springfield to me. Just vicious, mean, violent and deadly. There are some missing puzzle pieces in this story I read at first that it was a group of four or five--and then, I read it was fifteen and some were on bikes. I read that she fell, and then I read that he approached her with the baseball bat. The only facts that seem to be solid are that he beat her and dumped her in a pond. Awful, awful, awful. |
| It was a crime of hate. Whether it be hatred for women, muslims, teens, boys on bicycles being in his way, whatever the case. There's no way this is not a hate crime. |
You may not agree with it, but there is a standard definition of "hate crime". Your description does not meet it. |
I haven't heard that the family considers this attack to be because of her religion. I have only heard that the police don't consider the attack to be a bias crime - more a road rage triggered attack. I also see some similarities with the brutal crime in Springfield. But in that case, I believe that I read that the teen victim actually willingly met up with the group who brutally assaulted and murdered her and she knew her assailants. I don't know if that is true or not. I think the sheer brutality of the attacks are what these two cases have in common. But the circumstances surrounding the attacks were quire different. |
DP, you are so way off. I'm not an angry white man (I'm a POC whose parents are legal immigrants). In fact, YOU are the one who is being xenophobic. Sounds like you are assuming that all illegal immigrants are from a certain ethnicity? That is simply not true. I'd like the US to get a hold on illegal immigration, doesn't matter what country these people are here from. And it is completely fair to blame illegal immigrants for the crimes they actually DO commit. How is that even in question? |
Agree x1000! Who cares what race/religion someone was. A beautiful young lady was murdered by a thug. Who shouldn't have been here to begin with. Btw. You never see 'Christian girl murdered' or 'Jewish girl murdered'. |
The fact that he is an illegal is entirely relevant. It's another crime that should have never happened. Another citizen killed by someone who shouldn't even be here. Another victim of our lax immigration enforcement (Thanks Obama!). Deport all illegals. |
Exactly. The "Muslim" part was inserted to play up the "hate crime" angle before any facts were known. |
If a girl in a group leaving church on Easter Sunday were killed, then the headline would probably say "Christian teen killed". The headline wasn't to play up a hate crime, it was just factual. |
That would never happen. And you know it. |
