Question: Why is the family so convinced it was because of her religion? This seems more like that MS-13 murder in Springfield to me. Just vicious, mean, violent and deadly. There are some missing puzzle pieces in this story I read at first that it was a group of four or five--and then, I read it was fifteen and some were on bikes. I read that she fell, and then I read that he approached her with the baseball bat. The only facts that seem to be solid are that he beat her and dumped her in a pond. Awful, awful, awful.
I haven't heard that the family considers this attack to be because of her religion. I have only heard that the police don't consider the attack to be a bias crime - more a road rage triggered attack. I also see some similarities with the brutal crime in Springfield. But in that case, I believe that I read that the teen victim actually willingly met up with the group who brutally assaulted and murdered her and she knew her assailants. I don't know if that is true or not. I think the sheer brutality of the attacks are what these two cases have in common. But the circumstances surrounding the attacks were quire different.
