'blotted out the sun' hit me straight in the heart. it's exactly how it felt. god bless governor walz.

We are another family. My spouse has a congenital genetic disability that has cause lifelong issues. When we got married, we had to delay starting a family for several years treating their issues. We traveled to specialists out of town for 18 procedures over 10 years including more than one transplant surgery. Due to the face that my spouse's issue was genetically dominant, we opted for donor gametes to ensure our children did not have the genetically dominant mutation. Obviously this required IVF for us.

If the Trump and Vance campaign had their choice, the only way we could have had children was to risk our children having this genetic disorder that would have caused them to have lifelong health issues. Or choose to remain childless. We have two wonderful children that are healthy with no chronic conditions. That woudl not have been possible with what Trump Vance want to impose on the country.

Yes, the thought of not having children and the anxieties that we faced going through all of what we did, did feel like it blotted out the sun. Thank you to Governor Walz for bringing the challenges of those with fertiity and other issues to the surface.

Sending you much love! Thank you for sharing your story.

Section 1. [121A.212] ACCESS TO MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS.

A school district or charter school must provide students with access to menstrual products
at no charge. The products must be available to all menstruating students in restrooms
regularly used by students in grades 4 to 12 according to a plan developed by the school
district. For purposes of this section, "menstrual products" means pads, tampons, or other
similar products used in connection with the menstrual cycle.

Note that the products are to be provided "in restrooms". Not "in all restrooms" and not "in boys restrooms". Of course all of us are shocked that the MAGA cultists have misrepresented this.

At no charge? He's a communist!!!

He showed in a personal way how reproductive freedom for women is not just an issue for women, it's an issue for everyone, and one that one that can affect men who want families too.

+1

+1 My cousin wanted desperately to have children. They had a hard time conceiving so they did IVF. She got pregnant, and they were overjoyed. Then, the unthinkable happened. At 23 weeks, they found out that the baby had a life threatening deformity and would only live a few days after birth in pain.

Luckily, they live in a blue state, so they aborted the baby. They were devastated. Really heart broken. Within a year, they used IVF and got pregnant again. They now have a healthy happy baby and are trying for a second using IVF.

If MAGA want people to have children, then why would you make IVF and access to maternal care harder?

No access to abortion if you don't want to have a baby, no access to IVF if you can't have a baby, being horrified by free access to tampons for kids that can't afford them. There is only one theme - hating women and girls and pushing them down to remind them they are second class.

They obviously don't "want people to have children" or they would support paid family leave, free Pre-K for low income kids, and other supportive policies.

Walz is for families, for health care, and for safe and fed children. For some reason, this drives the right nuts. Weirdos.

They’re so mad about it! His politics are so good and his optics are, too.

He graduated from Camp Wellstone. 🥺

I thought so!

So are they available in the boys rooms or not?

It is probably up to the individual school.

So, I'm learning that Walz served for a couple of decades and helped make sure that girls, women, and anyone else who needs them had access to menstrual products without having to worry about having some kind of embarrassing accident.

Sounds like a good dude to me.

That would be "according to a plan developed by the school". My understanding is that some schools decided to put them in boys restrooms and some didn't. But that decision had nothing to do with Walz (who by the way, didn't write the law in the first place).

Thanks for the info. And I mean that sincerely. I may get snarky on here a lot, but I am happy to learn the truth.

I heard an interviewer ask Vance this a.m. where the "joy" was in his party? What made them happy? He said Trump had a great sense of humor and "loves to make fun of people".

Do tell!

Governor Tim is the guy that was behind you in line at the supermarket, saw you left your credit card and followed you home to return it.
