Oh, sweet lord. |
He could've said "puppies" except Noem made that a sore subject. |
Thanks! |
Speaking of puppies (and kitties), Walz has pets and advocates for the humane society too! https://x.com/nancywyuen/status/1820911495603220986 |
What a mensch. |
| KH introduced him at the Tuesday rally as the VP America deserves. Yes! |
I am standing by my post earlier saying to ignore the topic of period products in bathrooms. But, to put a final period on that discussion, here is the actual law:
https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/text.php?number=HF2497&session_year=2023&session_number=0&version=latest#:~:text=ACCESS%20TO%20MENSTRUAL%20PRODUCTS. Note that the products are to be provided "in restrooms". Not "in all restrooms" and not "in boys restrooms". Of course all of us are shocked that the MAGA cultists have misrepresented this. |
NP. Independent here. I get your point. I too am wary about how freely politicians spend taxpayer dollars. My concerns about waste are currently more focused on subsidies for agriculture and fossil fuel and military industrial complex which no one in the gop seems to think is worth controlling. Never mind the gop hypocrisy on the federal debt. When I compare the likely cost of menstrual products, lunches and so forth for kids who have so little (and they are kids) I don’t get very upset about that use of tax dollars. I always think of the fact that Einstein was a refugee from nazi germany and how much he contributed from his new home: the United States! One or two of those kids could be another Einstein and most of the rest can be productive taxpayers. I’d prefer to feed and educate them than incarcerate them later. YMMV |
So are they available in the boys rooms or not? |
Love when folks do a cost benefit analysis and look at the benefits a society gains from providing tampons and free/reduced brekkie/lunch v ag subsidies for one mega farmer (yeah, that's you, Grassley). |

Sounds like that's a decision made by individual schools, and you probably should take it up with them. |
That would be "according to a plan developed by the school". My understanding is that some schools decided to put them in boys restrooms and some didn't. But that decision had nothing to do with Walz (who by the way, didn't write the law in the first place). |
We are another family. My spouse has a congenital genetic disability that has cause lifelong issues. When we got married, we had to delay starting a family for several years treating their issues. We traveled to specialists out of town for 18 procedures over 10 years including more than one transplant surgery. Due to the face that my spouse's issue was genetically dominant, we opted for donor gametes to ensure our children did not have the genetically dominant mutation. Obviously this required IVF for us. If the Trump and Vance campaign had their choice, the only way we could have had children was to risk our children having this genetic disorder that would have caused them to have lifelong health issues. Or choose to remain childless. We have two wonderful children that are healthy with no chronic conditions. That woudl not have been possible with what Trump Vance want to impose on the country. Yes, the thought of not having children and the anxieties that we faced going through all of what we did, did feel like it blotted out the sun. Thank you to Governor Walz for bringing the challenges of those with fertiity and other issues to the surface. |
+1 My cousin wanted desperately to have children. They had a hard time conceiving so they did IVF. She got pregnant, and they were overjoyed. Then, the unthinkable happened. At 23 weeks, they found out that the baby had a life threatening deformity and would only live a few days after birth in pain. Luckily, they live in a blue state, so they aborted the baby. They were devastated. Really heart broken. Within a year, they used IVF and got pregnant again. They now have a healthy happy baby and are trying for a second using IVF. If MAGA want people to have children, then why would you make IVF and access to maternal care harder? |
