Walz will appeal to the "average American"
As a former football coach and history teacher, he is a good speaker, plain English and totally relatable. He is a common sense liberal, not a progressive, and should help carry independents and the Wisconsin/Michigan wall. Shapiro will campaign hard in PA for Harris. Beshear will campaign in NC and GA for Harris. Kelly will campaign in AZ for Harris. |
Lol |
Uh, he appeals to rural voters, Midwesterners, and Moderates. He will definitely not turn folks off from all the Israel/Hamas/Iran stuff going on the way Shapiro would. He doesn't come with any of that baggage and can play the role of happy warrior. |
I bet you all thought Tim Kaine was a genius pick too. |
I thought Coach Walz was too plain / ordinary. Maybe that is the point? Just a regular neighborhood guy. |
Right?! Why didn’t she pick Shapiro and try to make a battle for PA? Did Shapiro not want it? Did the opposition research find stuff on him or Kelly? This is “meh” for me but maybe he’ll surprise us? |
😂 |
He’s super liberal now and he doesn’t appeal to midwestern swing voters. He appeals to midwesterners already voting for her. He gets her nothing. |
Ha! I thought of this too a minute ago. That said, Walz has more charisma. |
As a former teacher, he'll also inspire younger voters. At the very least, he won't be a liability the way Shapiro would've been. Great decision by Harris -- the most consequential decision a Presidential candidate makes. |

Get that on a T-shirt! |
The other thing about Walz (and I posted the “not weird” comment in the VP thread) is that he comes across like a “normal midwesterner” kind of guy, and I think that’s going to help a lot in middle America on the campaign. He comes across as less out of touch than some of the other people in the party…or some of the other people on the ticket. Ahem. |
Hooray! |
Who calls out trump on his nonsense. |
