Other than a few FCV parents, this is not accurate. There are far more ECNL chest thumpers here than were ever DA chest thumpers. And, quite honestly, why does it matter? All of the talent in the DA will make its way back to starting rosters in the ECNL if the DA were to fold, as unlikely or likely as that may be. So short term chest thumping may turn into long term heartburn for many here. Be careful what you wish for. You may get it. |
Pda, crossfire, vda, Michigan hawks, Indiana fire, Concorde fire, Orlando city, nycfc all had/have boys da. I’m sure I missed some. |
What in the world are you talking about? A team doesnt disband because it changes leagues. There will be no great displacement of talent. |
Sure. Your ECNL bench player is safe with the dreams going on in this thread. |
Scenario One: If GDA collapses nearly 80% of GDA are former ECNL clubs. Many of those clubs are still highly competitive and will seek reinstatement to ECNL. ECNL cannot expand forever so some of that fat will then need to be cut. The first order of business for ECNL is target under performing clubs in divisions and then look to replace them. Some divisions could simply take on more teams to help reduce some travel. So, lets pretend catastrophic collapse of GDA next year. We have VDA, BRYC McLean and Loudoun. If FCV wants back in someones got to go. VDA is showing promise but Loudoun and the younger ages at BRYC are not fairing to well within a arguably weak ECNL division. Scenario Two GDA collapses and no more local teams are added to ECNL. Arlington, Spirit and FCV kids will jump ship. Scenario Three GDA collapses and ECNL admits all former local DA clubs. In two scenarios talent will be displaced. The last scenario means continued heavy dilution BUT makes ECNL a much more affordable and less travel burdensome league. |
Who is going to replace her? Every team in this area, ECNl or DA, with the exception of Spirit, already existed. If one league collapsed, the clubs will put on a different patch and move on. As I said before, a league collapsing is different than a club collapsing. There will be no displacment of talent to bump my bench warmer. |
If GDA collapses what league do you think FCV, Loudoun, Spirit and Arlington will play in? |
| I mean FCV, Spirit and Arlington |
The founder of FCV is one of the founders of ECNL. You tell me...where do you think they will go? They will put on an ECNL patch and move on as is. Spirit VA will collapse. Their players will not cause a great displacment among the areas 4 ECNL teams. Arlington will apply for ECNL or team with McLean as they were doing before. You see, this is nothing new. The world existed way before GDA. |
FCV will not get back into ECNL. Christian is not an ECNL founder either. They’ll be the best team in EDP though. |
And you really think that ECNL will really want 5 clubs in NoVA? Oh, I believe FCV would get back into ECNL but I think FCV will replace an existing local club. And yes, life will go back to the way it was before, with Loudoun back in CCL and their kids trying to get back on the FCV train. With Loudoun not having a single team above 7th place in their division I would see relegation in their future. |
| GDA will not collapse any time soon. US Soccer won't allow it. Will GDA be the superior league with superior talent? Def not the case currently and likely won't be the case next year or probably the following year. |
FCV Tech Director is a US Soccer guy. FCV won't be going ECNL as long as GDA is around. |
Hmm. I disagree. Any DA team’s top talent will want to move. And I’m pretty sure an ECNL team won’t turn away a great player. |
???? There isn't a single Loudoun ECNL team that wins a game against FCV. Who cares about PDA or Southern California. Your kid isn't on those teams and based on current division records you will never play against them in a showcase, but hey your kid gets to wear the same patch as a player on Michigan Hawks. Go and beat your chest some more. |
