I got the sense from Anchors that there wasn't a specific enddate for the effectiveness of phen pro. Meaning, everyone is different, as we can tell from the different experiences on this combo posted here. Maybe you could ask him again, and post his response? I've been fortunate that I have had no speediness, no headaches, constipation, or lessening of the effects of the meds so far, and I've been taking it for two months. As others have said, I'd stay on it forever if I could – not to continue losing, because I'm close to my goal weight, but because it does a great job at suppressing cravings and keeping my mind off food. I didn't realize how much I thought about food all the time, until I started taking these medications. It's very freeing to have a more relaxed and less obsessed relationship with eating. I'm doing my best to figure out ways to develop the skills myself so I'm not dependent on the meds once I stop taking them. |
| I have been the one posting updates, think last one I was at 141 or 142. Did want to mention one side effect, no period this month. Not sure if it is from the medication or the rapid weight loss. This would have been my second period on the pills, the first was about 3 weeks after starting them. I'm doing some googling about it, doesn't seem unusual. |
I love this even more now How long have you been on and how much weight have you lost? I'm on day 5 and as of this morning I'd already lost 5 pounds!

I brought this up so the last poster can see it. As of today, 5/14/2017, 141. There is nothing I would change about taking the pills. Now add in the skipped period and it is perfect. Over the last three weeks, I have gotten down to taking the pills about 4-5 times a week and not every day. The days I don't take them I am yawning and feel more worn out. But, I still made great food choices and don't eat more calorie-wise. use MyFitnessPal app to track now. In general though, I have been making an effort to eat more calories, started the MFP app about 3 weeks ago and realized I was only eating 600-800 calories a day. |
| I'm one of the ones who recently started taking it. I'm just not hungry at all. Should I be focusing on eating 3x a day (but smaller healthy portions?) I know Dr. Anchors is against snacking, but I'm wondering if I'm doing more harm than good by skipping meals. |
No snacking. You are trying to set up good habits. Three meals a day, protein and dark greens are your friends. working weekday for me includes the some mix of following as three meals. No snacks, if I eat anything sweet (like chocolate, ice cream, soft drink) it is only with a meal. Greek yogurt (usually breakfast) protein shake with spinach, blueberries and/or banana, cinnamon (breakfast or if dinner with a hard boiled egg, cheese, & almonds) hard boiled egg (with something else) serving of chicken (with green veg) serving of fish or red meat (with green veg) green vegetable (with a protein or cheese, almonds, olive bar) orange/red vegetable (usually lunch of dinner) 2 tablespoons of guacamole (usually lunch with veg) couple of cubes of cheese almonds something from the grocery olive bar Today Breakfast - greek yogurt lunch - chicken, cheese, olive bar (just realized I left veg & guac at home) dinner - fish, steamed broccoli, almonds, bright vegetables I should have had at lunch with quac. |

I'm 11:29, left out three days a week I have 1/2 cup of decaf coffee with cream when I eat my yogurt.
I may split the last peach we've got with my kid at home with dinner. |
this is another argument for no snacking. http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/0/642703.page#10913608 |
| Do the PPs that are working with Anchors, how do you ensure you are keeping enough calories in your diet as to not slow your metabolism? Is that difficult when you are not hungry from phenpro? I would think barely getting 1000 cals/day would be a recipe for long term failure. |
I'm 11:03 and this is basically what I'm getting at. I'm just not hungry. I had a cup of decaf, a hard boiled egg, a piece of string cheese and about a half a cup of berries at 6:00am. I'm not even remotely hungry. Yesterday I had a salad at Chipotle for lunch... just meat, lettuce, veggies and guac (I know the sodium is no good, but I was on business and it's where my coworkers stopped) at around 1pm and I couldn't even force myself to eat dinner last night. I'm just worried that I'm slowing my metabolism, plus afraid the hungries are going to come roaring back and this will have all been for nothing. |
| I am curious what Anchors' explanation is for this. |
For what? |
Yes, I started using the myfitnesspal app several weeks ago and figured out I was usually well below 800 calories a day, sometimes 400! Now I do make an effort to eat more, so usually 900-1000. I have added in nuts, guacamole, and fruit to meals. |
For how you can maintain enough calories while on PhenPro to not negatively impact your metabolism. |
| I'm on Qsymia and consume about 1300 calories/day. The point isn't to starve yourself with the help of the pills for two months and then gain it all back when you get off. The point is for the pills to take the edge off so you can learn how to manage healthy eating portions and continue to eat that way when you get off of them. If you are only eating 400-600 calories a day, that is dangerous and I would stop the pills. |
