Rape statistics depend on women reporting rapes. In many societies, rape is so shameful that it never gets reported. Plus if you need 4 witnesses to "prove" rape then it may never get recorded.

That's exactly the point. Behaviour that has been shamefully condoned and ignored by the authorities for her entire lifetime is suddenly a giant SCANDAL when perpetrated by Black and Brown men. OK, catcalls from German construction workers is bad and I'd hate to deal with it. But we're talking gangs of many men physically surrounding women and pawing them. The difference is several orders of magnitude.

Curious how different countries go about the reporting of sex crimes. We just saw how the German politicians tried to hush what happened, but the well-connected German citizens took to social media to let the world know what happened there.

We know how long it took for American law enforcement to start to prosecute rapists, especially those who were husbands or boyfriends.

We've come a long way, Baby, and we ain't going back.

The Jewish population in France has steadily declined because of the anti-semitism from many Muslims there. Europeans are complaining and filing complaints and no one is listening. Why? What is the reason for turning a blind eye? Complaints in other countries too and there is a video showing all sorts of violence from immigrants and refugees. I feel badly for them and want to help the refugees and immigrants. I really do. However, I feel we can best help them in their own country by allowing them to take back their country and live there peacefully. I don't know how to go about doing that, but I think that is much better than having the entire Middle East leave and go settle elsewhere.

I would be very hesitant to report rape if I lived in a country where imprisonment or stoning were a possible punishment for me getting raped.

I am sure western countries would have very low reported rapes if they also required three male witnesses to the rape for it to actually count.

Was the poster who posted the "stats" serious? This list is comical. In Sweden, Germany and for the most part the USA, women report rape, their families support them, the competent police investigate and the government collects reliable statistics which it releases to the public. None of those things apply to Syria and Egypt and I have my doubts about Turkey east of Ankara.

+1. The street harassment in Egypt is close to unbearable. I was assaulted in the middle of the day in Cairo with plenty of people who saw and nobody stopped to help me.
