This is probably gonna turn into an anecdotal rant, but I'm fucking speechless on how this gets handled.
I've been assaulted in broad daylight before and of course most of us have the "common sense" to be wary of certain situations, but now that the threat level has risen far enough for the government to act, all they tell us is that it's basically on us to protect ourselves and else deal with it.
Instead of protecting the public, we are now expected to restrain our lifes for a sense of security? This is the message we aim for here and the way we're heading? Bad things happen and the burden gets tossed upon the potential victims?
To me, the whole refugee situation aside, it's not even those men that acted like savages that are the main problem, but the response that came out of it. If my safety depends solely on myself while I'm simultaneously not allowed to defend myself and therefore am told to live in fear, I can't think of a clearer way to politically correctly tell me to go and fuck myself.

When folks start drawing up codes of conduct for women it makes me a wee bit nervous. However, the alleged conduct here would seem to meet the enlightened definition of nonconsendual contact used in California. Oh wait, I'm being a relativist....

The German authorities will next be telling their women to wear a burqa and walk three steps behind the man. You might have some temporary peace if you culturally

NP here. I've been talking about this with a female German friend and she says that street harassment is a HUGE issue but that her experience has been almost exclusively with German men.

She says that this type of drunken harassment is common at big gatherings, and that it is never taken seriously by the police. Here's what she said:

"I dealt with DAILY harassment in my old neighborhood. Followed, shouted at, solicited for sex, boxed into a doorway, dudes have tried to grab me multiple times, I have been hassled at work, on the train, on my damn bike, at the goddamn library. These men are ages 16 - 75 I guess and the prevailing color of them has been PASTY WHITE."

She also said that the worst groups of men that she has encountered in Germany have been British stag parties.
