Delay for rain and open on time for falling snow? Already an inch here

Too bad no delay - doesn't harm the school calendar and my HS kid can get some much-needed sleep. Alas, only a dusting!

This is so stupid.

It's so they can just make them up with half-days where students and teachers don't have to do anything. They're basically just paid vacation days.

Teacher here. We do stuff on half days. We do regular stuff, just less of it. Why are you being a jerk?

Not the half days added to the end of the year.

Should have been a delay. Now schools will likely close early and parents will have to scramble for that.

Why would they close early?

It’s almost like MCPS should spend less time making cutesy videos and more time actually making decisions. Yes, they got it wrong on Tuesday. No, that doesn’t mean they had to dig in and open on time today.

I am pissed! I know nobody cares about teachers but I have to drive from Middletown to Rockville and it is BAD! My other coworker lives in Poolesville and says nothing has been touched there either and it takes her a while to get to school. If you are going to open on time then make sure you have the snow plows actually do there job when you call it dumba$$!

No once kids are there, there is no benefit to closing early. Snow is not supposed to continue.

Wow, an entire inch.

I am terrified for my child to get on the bus. We live in a rural area that has not been touched by a plow, there is an inch, it is slippery, and the road to the school is like a roller coaster and the drive takes 30-45 minutes. If there is an accident and I lose my baby or she gets hurt, I will be furious!!! Ther will be he!! to pay!

The moaning and complaining has begun on the mcps Facebook page.

Yes. Be careful out there! Black ice. This call was made to "right" Tues's wrong. All weather people had said morning commute will be affected.

Not all of us live on flat, plowed roads!! An inch of slippery snow could mean lots of accidents. Some of us live in rural areas, and are commuting from far away. I am keeping my kid home as I work from home and it is possible.
